Paris La Defense, has named Larry D. J. Pope as president and CEO of Technip USA, based in Houston.

Paris La Defense, has named Larry D. J. Pope as president and CEO of Technip USA, based in Houston. Pope came to Technip from Brown & Root Services, a Halliburton Co., where he served as president and CEO. He replaces David Baker, who is retiring. Pope will be leading Technip in an ambitious expansion program in the US.

Technip is one of the world's top five engineering and construction firms in the field of hydrocarbon and petrochemical facilities.

New Orleans, has promoted Robert J. Singletary to staff engineer. Singletary, an electrical engineer, has been with the company for 11 years.

Nelson & Co. is a full service project management, engineering, environmental, and architectural firm serving industry and the public sector on a broad range of projects worldwide since 1945.

DownstreamEnergy

Houston, has hired Hugh James as chief operating officer. James has an extensive and varied background in the energy industry, most recently as CEO of Epic Energy Ltd. in Australia.

DownstreamEnergy is a Web-enabled, supply chain management-solutions provider for the refined petroleum products industry. It integrates and manages information between suppliers, marketers, and retailers of gasoline, diesel, and propane.

Fisher-Rosemount

Chanhassen, Minn., has announced the acquisition of Saab Marine Electronics AB, a world leader in radar level gauging. Saab Marine Electronics will become the level instrumentation center for Minneapolis-based Rosemount, the pressure, temperature, and level measurement division of Fisher-Rosemount.

Saab Marine Electronics, formerly a subsidiary of the Swedish high-tech company Saab AB, invented the radar level gauging technique in 1972.

Fisher-Rosemount division of Emerson is a leading supplier of process management products and solutions.

Houston, has named Kevin Kulish vice-president of engineering. Kulish has over 20 years of industry experience, most recently with Paragon where he was vice-president of marketing.

Enercon Engineering, founded in 1989, provides engineering design, procurement and project management services to a worldwide client base.

Norwood, Mass., has appointed Ian MacKay director of sales, with responsibility for sales activities in North, Central, and South America. Prior to his new position, MacKay was sales and marketing manager for Servomex Asia Pacific Ltd., headquartered in Taiwan. He is a degreed chemist and has over 10 years of industry experience.

Servomex, a member of Fairey Group plc, is a worldwide manufacturer and supplier of gas analysis products.

Fairey Group plc is a process technology company specializing in electronic controls, process instrumentation, and filtration systems.

Houston, has announced the appointment of Gerry L. Meeks as vice-president of sales and marketing. Meeks, who holds a degree from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, has over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He was former vice-president of international business development with Wood Group Pressure Control.

BGII, a subsidiary of Aberdeen-based Balmoral Group Ltd., supplies buoyancy, insulated buoyancy, elastomer products, and marine and mooring equipment to the oil and gas market in North and South America.

Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue

Washington, has announced that Kim Harb, formerly senior counselor and special assistant to the Bureau of Land Manage-ment (BLM) director, joined its law firm. Harb, a graduate of Syracuse University College of Law, will become head of the federal/public lands section of the oil, gas, and power practice at Jones Day.

While at the BLM, Harb was a key advisor to the director during the planning process for the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska. Those efforts were successful in both providing for oil and gas leasing and protecting key wildlife habitat on the North Slope.

Jones Day is an international law firm with 25 locations and more than 1,400 lawyers.

Computational Geology

Weybridge, Vt., has announced the appointment of J.W. "Jim" Tucker as chief geologist and Houston representative. Tucker has over 20 years of experience in all phases of exploration, development, and analysis, most recently with CGG Americas Inc.

Computational Geology is a provider of specialty geological software and interpretation services.

Heerema Group

Houston, has announced acquisition of Intec Engineering. While Intec will retain its own management and supervisory board, the team will leverage its joint capabilities to pursue projects in the deepwater pipeline and field development markets.
