Des Plaines, Ill., has named Albert Sherman as vice-president, commercialization and investment division. Sherman earned a BS in aerospace and mechanical sciences at Princeton University, and an MS in nuclear engineering at the University of Michigan.

Sherman earned a BS in aerospace and mechanical sciences at Princeton University, and an MS in nuclear engineering at the University of Michigan. He previously held positions with Arthur D. Little Inc., Battelle, Planmetrics Inc., and Booz Allen & Hamilton.

GTI is a provider of research and technical services, R&D program management, technical commercialization, and education programs for the natural gas industry.

ABS

Houston, has appointed William J. Sember as vice-president of offshore development. He has worked for ABS for 26 years, most recently serving as a vice-president with ABS Europe.

Sember holds a degree in marine engineering from the US Merchant Marine Academy.

ABS has worked with the offshore industry for more than 50 years to develop independent safety standards to meet the technical challenges of offshore exploration and production. Aberdeen, has appointed Bob Will as business stream director for cased hole services, and Nigel Avern as area manager for Norway. Will, who has over 20 years of experience with the company, will be headquartered in Aberdeen. Avern will be based in Agotnes, Bergen, Norway.

Paragon Engineering Services Inc.

Houston, has named Paul D. Miller as manager of subsea engineering, with responsibility for enhancing the company's subsea development expertise in the deepwater market. Areas of emphasis include subsea trees and manifolds, subsea controls and umbilicals, marine and riser systems, and flow assurance technology.

Miller holds a BS in mechanical engineering from Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, and has more than 25 years of experience in management and engineering. Most recently, he served as a senior engineering specialist and project manager with Intec Engineering. His operating experience includes employment with both BP and Mobil Oil, having worked on the BP Pompano and Shell Mars projects.

Watts Industries Inc.

North Andover, Mass., has announced the appointment of Jim Herdeman as vice-president of marketing for Watts' North American operations.

Herdeman has over 20 years of experience at Invensys, primarily in building control systems, and radiant cooling. His experience includes significant technical knowledge and foreign assignments.

Parker Drilling Co.

Houston, has announced the appointment of Robert F. Nash as senior vice-president and chief operating officer, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of James W. Linn.

Nash has worked in the oil and gas service sector for 26 years, serving in a variety of senior management roles with Halliburton Energy Services. He has a degree in electrical engineering from McNeese State University. His international experience will benefit Parker's business operations in Kazakhstan, Russia, Latin America, and Indonesia.

Parker Drilling Co. specializes in offshore drilling and workover services in the Gulf of Mexico, and in international land and offshore drilling. The company has 79 marketed rigs and employs more than 3,500 people worldwide.

Universal Compression Holdings Inc.

Houston, has appointed Kirk E. Townsend as president of its US Division. Townsend has been with the company for over 21 years, and will continue as senior vice-president and an officer of Universal Compression Holdings Inc. and Universal Compression Inc. in addition to his new responsibilities.
