Dallas, has announced a deal in which SmartSignal of Lisle, Ill., will provide equipment condition monitoring (ECM) and fault detection software in Aurion's line of field automation products.

Dallas, has announced a deal in which SmartSignal of Lisle, Ill., will provide equipment condition monitoring (ECM) and fault detection software in Aurion's line of field automation products. Integration of SmartSignal's ECM detection software will provide early warning of developing problems in compressors, electronic flow meters, and other equipment at oil and gas lease sites.

Aurion Technologies has also announced an alliance with Calgary-based Syndicated Technologies Ltd. (Syntech) whereby Syntech will be the exclusive distributor of Aurion products and web services in Canada.

Aurion Technologies, founded in 1997, provides web-based natural gas and oil field equipment and services. Aurion's system collects data from units in the field, stores the information at its data center, and presents the customer's data and alarms over the internet.

Coflexip Stena Offshore

Paris, has announced modification of its executive committee to reflect the acquisition of Aker Maritime's Deepwater Division. Named to head the CSO Aker Maritime Deepwater Division in Houston are Svein Eggen as senior executive vice-president, in charge of the division, and Stuart Bannerman as chief financial officer and corporate support manager.

Coflexip Stena Offshore is a global contractor for subsea and deepwater solutions to the offshore oil and gas industry. It offers engineering, fabrication, and installation services and products.

Expro International Group PLC (Expro Group)

Aberdeen, UK, has appointed Stuart Ferguson as group marketing director. Ferguson will be responsible for strategic development of the Group's cased hole services, subsurface systems, and surface and environmental systems. He holds an honors degree in chemical engineering from Birmingham University in the UK.

Prior to joining the Expro Group, Ferguson was technical services director of Petroline Wellsystems Ltd. in Aberdeen.

Expro is an international oil field service provider, employing over 2,000 people worldwide.

Granherne Inc.

Houston, has hired Sandeep Khurana as a principal facilities engineer. Khurana, who holds an MS in civil engineering from Rice University, has over 11 years of diversified experience in engineering design.

Granherne, a Halliburton company, operates within the Energy Services Group of Halliburton as the conceptual and front end engineering consulting business unit for oil and gas developments.

Inpro/Seal Co.

Rock Island, Ill., has appointed Paul Bender as director of sales and marketing. Bender will also help oversee manufacturing, R&D, and engineering operations.

Bender holds a BS in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University and has extensive industry experience, most recently with Viking Pump.

Inpro/Seal is the originator and largest manufacturer of bearing isolators, used primarily to protect machine tool spindles, and motor and pump bearings.

Netzsch Inc.

Exton, Pa., has appointed Nan Jiang to the position of north central regional sales manager for its analyzing and testing division, based in Chicago. Jiang holds a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the State University of New York-Binghamton, and has several years of experience in industrial chemical applications sales.

Netzsch Inc., North American subsidiary of the Netzsch group of companies, manufactures wet and dry grinding and dispersion equipment, progressive cavity pumps, and filter press systems.

Trade-Ranger

Houston, has selected Claire S. Farley as its permanent chief executive officer. Farley has over 19 years of energy industry experience, holding several high-level positions with Texaco Inc.

Trade-Ranger is an internet marketplace that buys and sells materials and services used by the energy industry, including those in upstream, downstream, retail, and petrochemical sectors.

Paragon Engineering Services Inc. (PES)

Houston, and Stolt Offshore have announced formation of a joint venture company, Paragon Engineering Services International (PESI). Goal of the new firm is to pursue large deepwater projects worldwide using cost-efficient Gulf of Mexico practices and design approaches. PESI will have offices in both Houston and Nanterre, France.

Executives named to head PESI include Ken Arnold as CEO and president, while retaining his title of CEO of PES; and Von Thompson as executive vice-president of PESI. Jim Gattis, currently executive vice-president of PES, will replace Arnold as president of PES.

Arnold, who founded Paragon in 1980, holds a BS in civil engineering from Cornell University and an MS in civil engineering from Tulane.

Thompson joined Paragon in 1989 and has had responsibility in the areas of project management and business development.

Gattis holds a BS in civil engineering from Texas Tech University and has over 30 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Paragon in 1995, he was a senior vice-president for Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Corp.
