America needs American oil

America needs American oil. We even have bumper stickers that say so.

America needs American oil. We even have bumper stickers that say so.

We have each been to the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve (ANWAR), but not in the same year.

Neither of us has ever received or expect to receive any benefit from oil and gas exploration in ANWAR, but our children and grandchildren will if it is developed.

The total ANWAR is roughly the size of Oklahoma east of Highway 35, but, the area of interest for petroleum is only the size of Southeast Tulsa. The "footprint" for exploration and production would be about the area of the Tulsa Fairgrounds. Plenty of ANWAR will be left untouched.

Experts estimate that the future oil from ANWAR would be about 1 million b/d. By coincidence, that is about what we import from Iraq now.

Radical environmentalists show mountains and waterfalls in the area of interest for petroleum. Not so!

We've been there. We also saw caribou by the dozens and learned the caribou have increased three times since oil was discovered.

America needs American oil. Drill for it now in ANWAR.
