Hand-held computer used in corrosion control

The Allegro Field Computer, a hand- held unit, is designed for corrosion control applications.

It offers data logging capabilities and has been designed to measure, record, and integrate information needed to manage corrosion control systems and compliance activities. In addition to a built-in digital voltmeter, an optional integrated GPS system can facilitate GPS and GIS reference of data. Incorporated with the computer is periodic/annual survey software that provides a seamless transfer of data from the hand-held unit to Bass-Trigon's CPDM pipeline compliance software. The Allegro can be used in conjunction with home grown and other standard CP data management programs.

The Allegro utilizes a Windows CE operating system and hosts familiar applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.

The Allegro combines ruggedness and performance with small size and light weight. The integrated PCMCIA slot provides virtually limitless possibilities for expansion, and the dual RS-232 serial ports and wireless infrared port can connect to a variety of devices including host computers, printers, bar code readers, and digital cameras. In addition, the Allegro has a data storage capability of 24 MB of nonvolatile memory that helps prevent data loss, even when the batteries are being changed.

Turnkey gas delivery system

The new turnkey CEMStation gas delivery system is designed to support continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS). They provide self-contained high-pressure gas cylinder restraint and pressure reduction for leak-free, uninterrupted delivery of US EPA protocol gases, zero air, and other calibration gases. Systems help minimize installation time by arriving on site ready for connection to existing CEMS gas distribution lines.

Units consist of high-performance pressure reduction equipment that can be configured to meet any application requirements. Heavy-duty racks provide safe storage of two or four high-pressure cylinders. Model 8100 single-station manifolds, complete with two-stage regulators in brass or stainless steel, protect gas purity, reduce maintenance costs, and improve safety by eliminating the need to repeatedly handle pressure regulators during cylinder changeouts, the company notes.

Changeover manifolds can be added for continuous flow of zero air between a primary and backup cylinder. Systems can include options such as flow limit shutoff valves, pressure relief valves, pressure switches, and annunciators for remote alarms and custom distribution panels. They can also be configured for non-CEMS use such as laboratory and process control applications.

Heated rubber mat helps keep feet warm

The Footwarmer, a large, heated rubber mat, radiates thermostat-controlled warmth to a 3-ft-long area.

It's suited for larger work areas, especially previously unheated areas: shipping tables, desks, security posts, warehouses, assembly lines, offices, dispatch booths, security booths, and receiving stations. Depending on workplace setup, it may be possible to cover more than one employee per Footwarmer.

The maker says its product avoids high electricity costs and dangers of space heaters. Uninterrupted comfortable heat helps end complaints, helps boost productivity, and helps reduce cold-related absences, the company says. The industrial size allows the freedom of movement while keeping warm.

Footwarmer is waterproof, sealed, and insulated, and can be plugged into any standard 110 v ac outlet. Beveled edges allow for easy chair, dolly, and creeper roll on-off access. Heavy-duty construction prevents curling at the edges.

It measures 16 by 36 by 3/8 in. and weighs 10 lb. For smaller areas, there's a 6 lb, 14 by 21 by 3/8 in.,version.
