Baytown, Tex., has named Thomas E. Murdock as sales manager for oil country tubular goods. Murdock, who holds a BS in economics from Slippery Rock State University, Pa., began his oil industry involvement as an accountant with Tenneco Oil E&P.

Murdock, who holds a BS in economics from Slippery Rock State University, Pa., began his oil industry involvement as an accountant with Tenneco Oil E&P. Most recently, he had been with Sooner Pipe Inc. in Houston.

Koppel Steel, a subsidiary of NS Group Inc., produces seamless tubular products used in the exploration, production, and transmission segments of the oil and natural gas industries, and in the bearing, power generation, heat transfer, and mechanical tubing markets. The company operates manufacturing and finishing facilities in Koppel and Ambridge, Pa., and Baytown, Tex.

Houston, has announced the appointment of Andrew R. Fair as vice-president of engineering, and Dean Gilbert as senior geoscientist.

Fair was associated with Randall & Dewey Inc. for 10 years prior to joining Scotia. He has over 25 years of experience in evaluating properties in all major producing areas of the US, as well as extensive international experience.

Gilbert previously served with Burlington Resources, and has over 24 years of industry experience.

Kvaerner Oilfield Products Inc.

Houston, has announced groundbreaking for its new state-of-the-art 10,000 sq ft research and development laboratory at its location on North Post Oak Road in Houston. The laboratory will enhance the group's capabilities to perform qualification and testing procedures of new products and technologies. The facility will also house a training and conference area.

Kvaerner Oilfield Products is a fully integrated company providing a range of surface and subsea services and products for the oil and gas industry.

New Castle, Del., has named Clive Grannum as senior vice-president, Americas. Grannum, who will also be part of the global Uniqema executive team, will be responsible for Uniqema's business in the NAFTA region and Latin America. He holds a degree in aerospace engineering from Boston University, an MBA from the Yale School of Organization and Management, and previously served in various positions with the BOC Group, a UK-based multinational.

Uniqema, a part of the ICI group of companies, is a global provider of specialty chemicals. Global headquarters are in Gouda, The Netherlands.

Oklahoma Safety Equipment Co. Inc. (Oseco)

Broken Arrow, Okla., has named Michael Schmucker as its vice-president of sales and marketing. He will also serve on the company's board of directors.

Schmucker holds a BS in metallurgical engineering from Lafayette College, and a double master's degree in international business and finance from Mercer University.

Oseco, a Halma group company, manufactures rupture disks.

Watlow Electric Manufacturing Co.

St. Louis, has named Daniel Sparks as director of strategic marketing. Sparks previously held management positions with MTS Systems Corp., Cary, NC; and Nicolet Instrument Corp., Madison, Wis.

Sparks holds a BS in chemistry from Georgetown College, and earned a doctorate in analytical chemistry from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Watlow Electric Manufacturing Co., founded in 1922, designs and manufactures industrial heaters, sensors, controllers, and software for a variety of applications and markets.

Midland, Tex., has announced the appointment of Steven C. Lindgren as vice-president and general counsel. Lindgren has served as the outside counsel for WEC and its operating companies for more than 22 years. He received an accounting degree from the University of Oklahoma and a law degree from Southern Methodist University.

Warren Equipment Co. is the holding company for Compressor Systems Inc., West Texas Equipment Co., Ignition Systems & Controls Inc., and Pump Systems International, all based in Midland. The Warren companies provide sales, leasing, engineering, fabrication, and operation of gas compression equipment, Caterpillar machines and engines, Altronic control panels, and industrial pumps.
