New coupling guard sizes are available for large flexible couplings and fluid couplings.

These base-mounted and close-coupled coupling guards are made from powder-coated steel and aluminum and come with stainless-steel hardware. After an initial sizing, large guards are trimmed to length and adjusted to height, using three easy measurements. A typical installation will take less than 1 hr using common power and hand tools, the company says.

Shaft guards come in a powder-coated safety orange color with affixed warning labels and fully enclose the rotating members, allowing gaps no greater than 6 mm. Guards are hinged and swing open for convenient coupling lubrication, inspection, and maintenance. Safety labels are also available for use on existing guards.

Scale, corrosion inhibitor environmentally friendly

A biodegradable scale and corrosion inhibitor product line designed for oil production operations is environmentally friendly.

Using the patented, multifunctional, thermal polyaspartate technology (TPA), these inhibitor products promise to generate cost savings for operating companies by replacing the use of several inhibitor products with one.

The company says performance tests have proved that the TPA products repressed carbonate and sulfate scales. Corrosion tests performed by one large integrated oil company showed in a carbon dioxide-rich environment that 90% inhibition can be achieved through the use of the TPA products. The product offers tolerance to the high calcium brines found in North Sea oil operations, the firm notes. During the oil and brine separation process, oil and brine appeared to separate faster and more completely with TPA products than with conventional chemicals, the company pointed out.

Testing also proved that the product is completely safe to mammals and aquatic life and that the products simply biodegrades with no run-off into aquatic life and organisms

This new explosion-protected signal lamp incorporates LED technology.

The multivoltage units can accept power supplies from 20 v to 250 v ac/dc. With uniform front actuator elements for a standard dimension of 30.5 mm, units will accept any one of the set of snap-on colored lens covers supplied with the lamp. They have a long service life of 100,000 hr, and an Ex-i version is available for intrinsically safe output circuits.

Lamps are designed for mounting in switch panels and control stations and are fully compatible with the company's previous signal lamp range.

PC-programmable transmitter has display

The new FDY PC-programmable frequency-to-dc transmitter with display monitors frequency, period, high or low pulse width, and contact closure signals in flow and speed measurement applications.

The two-wire (loop-powered) transmitter is accurate to ±0.025% of span typical, with an allowance of up to 5 years between scheduled calibrations. Versatile input options include frequency ranges of 0.005-25 khz, periods from 40 µ sec to 200 sec, and pulse widths from 0.2 ms to 200 sec.

The FDY converts the input signal to a proportional, 4-20 ma output. It configures with application-specific operating parameters in minutes using the company's single-window intelligent PC configuration software.

The transmitter is input-to-output isolated and RFI-EMI protected, making it resistant to unpredictable ground loops and the effects of plant and equipment noise. A programmable moving average filter helps minimize measurement instability caused by frequency variations. The five-digit user-configurable display shows the process variable in selectable engineering units. The software comes with the HelpMap navigation system that provides answers to setup, performance, installation, and maintenance questions.
