Houston, has acquired OCRE (Scotland) Ltd. from Maritime Well Service, a division of Aker Maritime.

Houston, has acquired OCRE (Scotland) Ltd. from Maritime Well Service, a division of Aker Maritime. OCRE will be a part of Baker Oil Tools, a division of Baker Hughes.

Based in Aberdeen, OCRE specializes in interventionless oil and gas well completion products. The addition of OCRE is expected to enhance Baker Hughes' deepwater completions capabilities by adding a third interventionless packer setting method along with Edge and hydrostatic ruptured disc methods.

Baker Oil Tools is a provider of total completion, workover, and fishing solutions for exploration and production companies.

Baker Hughes is a leading provider of drilling, formation evaluation, completion, and production products and services to the worldwide oil and gas industry.

Lake City, Pa., and its division, PurePoint Filtration Systems, have appointed Clinton R. Holland Jr. as president. Holland previously was chief technical officer, chief operations officer, and president of Buffalo Filter. He received his BS in chemical engineering from the University of Rhode Island, and his MBA from Boston University. Holland also holds three US patents in the field of filtration and electronics.

Van Air Systems, in business for 57 years, is the originator of desiccant dryer technology. The company manufactures equipment and integrated systems to ensure clean, dry compressed air for manufacturing, construction, and processing industries. PurePoint Filtration Systems provides advanced solutions for the filtration of compressed air and gas.

US Commission on Ocean Policy

Washington, DC, has received appointments by President George W. Bush of 16 members. Included in the group are two leaders of the offshore drilling industry: Lawrence R. Dickerson, president and chief operating officer of Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc.; and Paul L. Kelly, senior vice-president of special projects for Rowan Companies.

Dickerson also serves on the Ocean Research Advisory Panel, assigned the task of reporting to the Secretary of the Navy on offshore environmental and technological issues. He has been with Diamond Offshore since 1979.

Kelly represents the drilling and service/supply sectors on the Secretary of the Interior's Outer Continental Shelf Policy Committee. He recently served on the National Petroleum Council Coordinating Subcommittee that studied US natural gas supply, demand, and distribution through 2015, and has testified before Congress on several occasions. He also received a commendation for his service to the US Coast Guard National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee.

The Commission on Ocean Policy, created by Congress with the Oceans Act of 2000, is a national group charged with evaluating ocean and coastal activities and reporting recommendations to the President and Congress in 18 months.

Waukesha Engine

Waukesha, Wis., has appointed Jim Drees as power generation and controls product manager, and Steve Kuehl as VHP engine product manager.

Prior to joining Waukesha Engine, Drees was a product development engineer with Ford Motor Company. He holds a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a master's from the University of Michigan.

Kuehl, who holds a BS in mechanical engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering, has been with Waukesha Engine since 1994. He served most recently as power generation marketing manager, after stints as an application engineer and a sales engineer.

Waukesha Engine manufactures natural gas engine systems serving the gas compression, power generation, and mechanical drive markets worldwide. Celebrating the 95th anniversary of its founding, Waukesha Engine is now part of Dresser Inc., a global provider of equipment and services to the flow control, measurement, and power systems segments of the energy industry.
