Portsmouth, NH, has purchased Merit Manufacturing Corp., located in Pottstown, Pa. Merit president and founder, Raymond Jensen, will continue to manage operations from its existing facilities, reporting to Tom Fish, president of Anvil International.

Portsmouth, NH, has purchased Merit Manufacturing Corp., located in Pottstown, Pa. Merit president and founder, Raymond Jensen, will continue to manage operations from its existing facilities, reporting to Tom Fish, president of Anvil International.

Anvil International manufactures fittings and hangers for a variety of markets, including the oil and gas industry.

Baker Botts Energy Group

Houston, has named Antony Higginson as partner in charge of its London office. He replaces Jay T. Kolb, who served as partner in charge of the London office from its inception in 1997 and will now return to the firm's Houston office.

Higginson received his PMD from Harvard University and MA from Emmanuel College, Cambridge.

Wilmington, Del., has appointed Paul N. DeStephano as vice-president of sales for North America. DeStephano has over 18 years of management and sales experience.

Cadcentre is a provider of lifecycle engineering IT solutions to the process and power industries. Headquartered in Cambridge, England, the company has 300 employees worldwide.

Sensa

Chandlers Ford, England, has announced agreement to acquire Well Technology International Pty. Ltd. (WellTech). WellTech offers consulting engineering and business development services to operating and service companies in the upstream international oil and gas industry, and is based in Perth, Western Australia. Ken Andrus, founder and managing director of WellTech, will join Sensa and become regional manager for the Asia Pacific region. From its Perth base, the combined organization will operate under the Sensa name.

Sensa specializes in design, manufacture, and deployment of fibre optic sensors. It provides real-time data solutions to the oil and gas, process, and energy distribution industries.

Haskel International Inc.

Burbank, Calif., has acquired Durameter Pump Co. and will move manufacturing and engineering functions from Angola, NY, to Haskel's headquarters in Burbank. Durameter's line of electrically driven metering pumps will be marketed as Durameter-a Haskel Product.

Haskel International manufactures electrical and air-driven, high-pressure pumps; hydraulic and air-driven, high-pressure gas boosters; air pressure amplifiers; and related equipment.

Group Ultra Ltd.

Houston, has appointed Stephen Y. Cross as director of technology. Initially, Cross will be with Alon Surface Technologies, specifically supporting surface modification technology in markets that include petrochemical, chemical, and primary and waste heat transfer systems. Cross has 11 years of technical experience with Dow Chemical Corp., most recently serving as senior metallurgist for Dow's Louisiana division.

Alon Surface Technologies is head-quartered in Leechburg, Pa. It is a member of Group Ultra, a group of companies servicing the petrochemical and process industries.

Tetra Technologies Inc.

The Woodlands, Tex., has appointed Joseph M. Abell III as chief financial officer. Current president Geoffrey M. Hertel will assume the additional title of chief executive officer, and Paul D. Coombs has been promoted to chief operating officer.

Abell holds a BS in mechanical engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He has over 24 years of experience in the petroleum and power industries.

Coombs has served Tetra for 19 years, most recently as executive vice-president and member of the board of directors.

Tetra Technologies is an oil and gas services company, including an integrated chemicals operation that supplies feedstocks to energy markets.
