Petroleum Geo-Services ASA

Houston and Oslo, has reorganized is geophysical business under the leadership of Anthony "Diz" Mackewn, the newly appointed president of PGS Geophysical.

Mackewn graduated with an honors degree in physics from the University of Southampton. Most recently, he served as president of PGS' Europe, Middle East, and Africa geophysical business.

Petroleum Geo-Services is a technologically focused oil field service company involved principally in geophysical seismic services and production services.

Pittsburgh, has appointed Steve T. Oslica national sales manager for Foamglas insulation products.

Oslica holds a BA degree from Culver-Stockton College, Canton, Mo. He has more than 20 years of sales experience, and has been with Pittsburgh Corning for 6 years.

Promore Engineering Inc.

Calgary, has opened a Houston sales and operations center to serve the Gulf of Mexico and US independents' market. Heading the new office will be Mark Mulkern, US general manager. Mulkern has over 15 years of experience in downhole instrumentation, log analysis, and reservoir engineering.

Promore manufactures, installs, and supports a wide variety of real-time well monitoring systems.

Rebis Inc.

Walnut Creek, Calif., has launched Rebis Scandinavia A/S, a wholly owned subsidiary based in Copenhagen to serve new and current customers.

Rebis is a provider of plant design and management software. Established in 1985, the company offers a suite of integrated applications for piping, structural, process, and instrumentation design and management, pipe stress, and fluid flow analysis, and plant information management.

RohMax Additives GMBH

Darmstadt, Germany, has signed an agreement to acquire Rhodia's UK-based lubricants additives business.

RohMax Additives produces high-performance lubricant additives from its production and research facilities in Europe, US, and Canada. It forms part of the specialty acrylics business unit of the new Degussa AG, Düsseldorf.

FuelSpot

Denver, a provider of electronic trade management software and services for refined petroleum products and other commodities, is expanding its operations with the establishment of offices in Houston; Sacramento, Calif.; and Jacksonville, Fla. These offices build on current locations in Denver, Dallas, and Boston.

Staffing the Houston office are Brian Rhodes, director of sales; John Stevens, director of sales; James Ireland, regional sales manager; and Lynne Justis, sales operations assistant.

Ernie Hill is regional sales manager in the Jacksonville office, and Dennis Haugh is regional sales manager in Sacramento.

Seitel Inc.

Houston, has named Kevin Fiur as executive vice-president and chief operating officer. Fiur, who earned his JD from the University of Texas-Austin, was formerly associated with Baker & Botts LLP; and with Bristow, Hackerman, Wilson & Peterson; both of Houston.

Seitel markets proprietary seismic information/technology, selling data from its library and creating new seismic surveys under multiclient projects. It also participates selectively in oil and natural gas exploration and development programs.

Weatherford International Inc.

Houston, has announced acquisition of CAC Inc. and Orwell Group PLC. CAC, formerly a subsidiary of Thermo Electron Corp., has a 30-year history of service to the oil and gas industry as a provider of automation, optimization, and control system technologies.

Orwell Group, based in Aberdeen, Scotland, is a provider of oil field services for drilling, fishing, remediation, and marine applications.

Weatherford International operates

in over 50 countries. It provides innovative mechanical solutions, technology, and services for the drilling and production sectors of the international oil and gas industry.

Iridium Satellite LLC

Leesburg, Va., has named Gino Picasso president and CEO. Dan Colussy, who purchased the assets of Iridium LLC with a group of private investors in December 2000, will continue to serve as chairman.

Picasso has over 20 years of telecommunications and professional management experience.

Iridium Satellite LLC is a provider of global mobile satellite voice and data solutions. Through a constellation of 66 low-earth orbiting satellites operated by Boeing Co., Iridium delivers essential communication services to and from remote areas. Commercial service was launched on Mar. 30, 2001.

Fairfax, Va., has named Joseph R. Berkel as North American commercial vehicle lubricants manager. His team is responsible for sales, marketing, and technical support for customers involved in heavy duty trucking, construction, mining, agriculture, and other heavy duty market areas.

Berkel holds a BA and MBA from the University of Massachusetts and Babson College, respectively. He has over 20 years of experience in the lubrication industry.

Natural gas production at the Åsgard B platform in the Norwegian Sea had been shut in to permit the first turnaround since the platform came on stream last October, Statoil said.
