Used together, two new linings protect metal-walled and concrete-floored thickener/clarifier tanks. VE 9300, a vinyl ester-based glass flake system, provides chemical and permeation protection of the steel walls, while Iraseal 200, a polyurea spray elastomer, seals and protects the concrete floor from chemical attack and abrasion. Either system may be used alone, but using them in combination takes maximum advantage of the characteristics of each system while providing a flexible joint between the concrete and steel interface, the company notes.

VE 9300 is a novolac vinyl ester system that offers resistance to acids, solvents, and chemical solutions. Large-diameter glass flakes in the lining provide resistance to water permeation. The result is a virtually impermeable barrier with flexibility and resistance to delamination due to flexing, thermal shock, or cycling. Linings can withstand temperatures as high as 266° F. wet and 350° F. dry. A typical system consists of a primer, two mid or build coats, and a top coat. The base resin system may be modified to provide reinforcement or enhanced abrasion resistance.

Iraseal 200 is a polyurea system that offers resistance to mild acids and caustics, hydrocarbons, water, and waste water. Its high elongation (up to 450%) suits it for substrates prone to movement or cracking. It also demonstrates resiliency, physical strength (tensile strength 3,000 psi), and resistance to punctures, abrasion, UV, and weathering on a variety of substrates. A 100% solids coating, Iraseal 200 has a gel time of 7 sec, can be built up to any thickness in a single application, and can be put into light-duty service in as little time as 2 hr.

New consoles for process control rooms

The new Icon Series modular, ergo-nomically designed operator consoles combine futuristic form with advanced function.

These process control room units are available in dual and quad console models. This design promises ease of use and comfort to promote optimal operator and engineering productivity, the company says.

The modular, flexible design allows adjustment of keyboard height and screen angle, helping reduce operator fatigue and increase operator accuracy. The flat-panel display technology helps reduce glare and extend product life.

Its expanded display area in a smaller footprint helps cut costs while minimizing floor space. Built-in quadruple displays, sound system, keyboard, and disk drive storage as well as swappable input module for left or right-handed operators provide added convenience, the company points out.

An optional programmable soft keyboard (flat-panel display with user-created multiple-keyboard functionality) expands the scope and precision of control by providing a context for every process control situation.
