Houston, has named William (Bill) Weathersby senior vice-president of professional services. He will be responsible for leading and expanding the Altra market services group, which provides an array of implementation and integration services including new product installations, product upgrades, desktop integration and consolidation, as well as services associated with portal initiatives and enterprise application integration.

Weathersby previously was with Accenture, Grant Thornton, and Spherion Technology Group. Most recently, he was president and founder of CommonVision LLC.

Altra Energy Technologies is a provider of independent neutral online trading systems, transaction management software, and e-business solutions for the energy industry. Founded in 1996, Altra's software and trading systems are now in use in 500 companies worldwide.

Grant Geophysical Inc.

Houston, has appointed Lee Parker vice-president of technology. He will be responsible for the technical integrity of current operations, the direction of future technologies, deployment and utilization of existing assets, and the search for new strategic technological alliances.

Parker has 6 years of instrumentation system design experience and 9 years of seismic acquisition experience.

Grant Geophysical is involved in the acquisition, processing, and marketing of 2D and 3D seismic data used by the oil and gas exploration and development industry. Grant operates land and transition zone projects in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Middle East, and Far East.

Dallas, announced that Gary McGilvray has been named president. He previously was executive vice-president of the firm, responsible for the firm's Eastern Hemisphere operations.

McGilvray has directed reserves studies and economic evaluations in Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Australia, South America, and North America.

DeGolyer & MacNaughton is an international petroleum reservoir consulting firm. The company appraises oil and gas properties, evaluates petroleum and other mineral prospects, and conducts field, deliverability, equity, supply, and economic studies. Encompassing geophysics, geology, petrophysics, and petroleum engineering, the firm has served the industry for more than 60 years.

J. D. Fields & Co. Inc.

Houston, has announced that Jay Fields has joined its tubular sales group, relocating to the Houston corporate office from the Dallas sales office. Fields holds a BA in economics from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

J.D. Fields & Co. is a supplier of steel piping products, H-bearing piling, steel sheet piling, and other related steel products.

Kiewit Offshore Services Ltd.

has announced that its state-of-the-art offshore fabrication facility at Ingleside, Tex., near Corpus Christi, will be operational in June 2001. The 400-acre property will include 3,600 ft of bulkhead with 45-ft water depth along the bulkhead, making the yard capable of handling complex integration activities for tension leg platforms and floating production/storage and offloading units.

Kiewit Offshore Services has been building oil and gas facilities worldwide for more than 30 years, including participation in Bullwinkle, Hibernia, and major installations at Prudhoe Bay. KOS is a unit of Peter Kiewit Sons' Inc., Omaha, Neb. Founded in 1884, the employee-owned firm operates the largest private construction equipment fleet in the US and ranks as the seventh largest construction organization in North America.

Lockard & White Inc.

Houston, and Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) have formed a strategic alliance that utilizes Petrobras' expertise and resources in Brazil and Lockard & White's experience in design, implementation, and operation of energy telecom networks to integrate a seamless telecommunications solution for companies exploring for oil and gas onshore and offshore Brazil.

Lockard & White is a worldwide provider of project management and telecommunications engineering services in the energy market. The company has offices in Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro, and Sao Paulo, in addition to its headquarters in Houston.

Petrobras is Brazil's state-owned oil corporation.

FMC Energy Systems

Houston, has expanded its Middle East operations by opening a wellhead equipment service center in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The new facility will provide a complete range of aftermarket services for wellhead equipment to customers throughout the country.

FMC Energy Systems is a global supplier of surface and subsea wellhead equipment and has had a permanent presence in the Middle East since 1970. The new service center capitalizes on existing warehousing, office, and machining capabilities at the FMC wellhead equipment base in the Al Rusail Industrial Estate.

Kawasaki Steel Corp. and NKK Corp

Tokyo, jointly announced that the two firms intend to combine their entire operations. Both KSC and NKK will continue efforts to accomplish the various targets of each company's mid-term management plan, while working to realize expected synergy effects from business consolidation in both the steel business and the engineering business.

A consolidation preparation committee will be established and cochaired by the CEOs of Kawasaki Steel and NKK to drive forward the consolidation.
