A new line of pumps is available to transport Bentonite fluid used to stabilize boreholes in horizontal drilling applications.

These pumps range in ratings of 18.5-84.5 gpm at as much as 1,500 psi. All pumps feature cast iron fluid ends with solid ceramic plungers. Gear end construction of heavy-duty cast iron crankcase, glazed, hardened and ground crankshaft, and aluminum-bronze bearings promises long life, the company says.

Literature package on item for catalytic reforming

In one piece of equipment, Packinox large welded plate heat exchangers offer the efficiency of plate exchangers together with the resistance to high temperatures and pressures. A free literature package discusses these items that are suited for catalytic reforming uses.

The compact design of one unit can replace several tubulars, the company says, thus enhancing the impact on capital expenditures and operating expenses by cutting installation costs and pressure drop consumption.

These heat exchangers help improve the overall economics of greenfield units and also serve as a low cost retrofitting basis for debottlenecking existing units. No other change to the unit's existing equipment (compressors, heaters) is needed to obtain higher throughput or higher H2S production.

Applications for the firm's heat exchangers include:

1. Feed-effluent technology.

  • Catalytic reforming (continuous regeneration and fixed bed).
  • Hydrotreating and hydrodesulfurization (gasoil, naphtha and kerosine feeds, and pyrolysis gasoline).
  • Paraxylene plants (xylene isomerization, toluene disproportionation units)
  • Paraffin dehydrogenation for LAB plants.
  • Methanol synthesis loop (feed-effluent converter preheater).

2. Nonfeed-effluent technology.

  • Styrene monomer plants (styrene waste heat exchanger).
  • Stripper bottoms heat exchanger for hydrotreating.
  • Methyl tertiary butyl ether units (reactor effluent chiller).
  • Ziepack heat exchangers for distillation and gas desulfurization.

3. Plate technology for heat transfer equipment.

  • ProserPack heat exchanger plus gas-liquid separator for condensate recovery loops-dew point control units.
  • Temperature controlled reactor.

New caps for exposed cable ends

New cold shrink EC-Series end caps environmentally seal and mechanically protect exposed cable ends without the use of tools, mastics, or tapes.

The easily installed and cleanly removable end caps protect cable ends from exposure to moisture, contamination, and corrosion whether the cable is in transit, stored in the cable yard, or being laid in a trench.

End caps are factory expanded on removable plastic cores. When the core is removed, the constant radial pressure of the end cap helps ensure a durable environmental seal. No training is required for installation.

The cold shrink material resists abrasion, fungus, acids, and alkalis. Exposure to freezing or hot weather before installation does not affect the quality of the cold shrink product, the company notes.

Only four sizes are needed to fit cable ranges of 0.46-3.32 in.

System tracks, reports projects via web

WebVista is a new web-based project tracking and reporting system that gives authorized clients real-time access to all relevant information concerning their data processing or reservoir project via a web-browser.

A shared secure access enables the necessary dynamic exchange of information through an intuitive interface. The new system provides a solution for integrated project management between clients and project teams.

It helps ensure distribution of information, allowing all client players involved in the same project to access all project data in a common fashion, whenever they wish, from virtually anywhere in the world. In this way, the multidisciplinary skills required at each stage of such a project can be easily mobilized to investigate all project dimensions.

WebVista clarifies and accelerates decision-making through improved communication. It highlights priorities at each stage, provides real-time project status, and allows the project team to focus on key issues.

The system is hosted by this firm's web site in a protected area, helping to guarantee asset security. All project-relevant information, such as Gantt charts, weekly reports, emails, data, and all other kinds of documents, are collated, cataloged, and classified into the system, simplifying and speeding up document access and retrieval through the use of hyperlinks.
