Thank you for publishing the 20th century milestones for the oil and gas industry (OGJ, Dec. 13, 1999).

Reading through the several pages of companies that are credited with accomplishments that have revolutionized our industry during the 100 years, I noticed Cameron was notably missing. The many milestones and contributions from Cameron are important and should be noted.

Among the most notable milestones from Cameron are the first ram-type BOP in 1922, the first subsea christmas tree in 1960, the first subsea guidelineless BOP stack in 1978 that was capable of drilling in 3,000 ft of water, the first freestanding production riser system in 1989, and the first spool tree (horizontal christmas tree) in 1993.

Cameron is an acknowledged leader in the petroleum industry with an outstanding reputation for quality and quantity. It is unfortunate that Cameron was not included in OGJ's 20th century milestones. We at Cameron feel that our milestones are worthy of your top 100 and ask that you bring this to your reader's attention.
