Independents set on developing Rocky Mountain region

As of October 2000, Anadarko was producing 23 MMcfd of coalbed methane gas from 90 wells in the Helper field of Carbon County, Utah. Total time to drill and complete each well is 8-9 days at an average depth of 3,500-4,000 ft. Once a well comes online, water production can last 2-3 years. Once gas production starts, however, typical wells will produce for more than 20 years.
