Carmine Falcone, formerly vice-president of refining for Equilon Enterprises LLC, has been named to the new position of vice-president, refining, of the newly consolidated companies of Equilton and Motiva Enterprises LLC, Houston.

Carmine Falcone, formerly vice-president of refining for Equilon Enterprises LLC, has been named to the new position of vice-president, refining, of the newly consolidated companies of Equilton and Motiva Enterprises LLC, Houston. He will have responsibilities for overall coordination of the refineries in Equilon and Motiva. Falcone became vice-president, refining, for Equilon in 1999.

Jean Gaulin has been elected chairman of Ultramar Diamond Shamrock Corp., San Antonio. He is currently vice-chairman, president, and CEO. He replaces Roger Hemminghaus, who has retired. Prior to the merger in 1996 of Ultramar and Diamond Shamrock, Gaulin was chairman and CEO of Ultramar Corp.

UK Offshore Operators Association, London, has elected Francis Gugen, managing director of Amerada Hess Ltd. as their president. Gugen is replacing Bob Connon of Chevron. David Smith, president of Marathon Oil UK Ltd., and Alan Jones regional president -Scotland for BP Amoco Exploration, were elected vice-presidents.

W. Douglas Ford, CEO of BP Amoco's refining and marketing business, has been appointed a director of the company. Prior to the merger of BP and Amoco, he was executive vice-president of Amoco Corp. since July 1993. Ford joined Amoco in 1970 as a process development research engineer.

Charles (Chuck) R. Erwin has been promoted to vice-president, exploration, of Gruy Petroleum Management Co., subsidiary of Magnum Hunter Resources Inc., Irving, Tex. He has been with the company since June 1999. Erwin previously worked for Enserch Exploration. Earl Krieg was promoted to vice-president, engineering. He has been with Gruy since February 1999 in the engineering department. Before joining the company Krieg was with Wiser Oil Co.

Clive W. Duerden is serving as managing director of a newly formed company in the UK, Petro Ventures Int'l. Helping him launch the Cambridge-based company are geologist Jan de Coo and economist Andy Allington. The company was created by former Shell employees. Petro is the only independent company to offer a complete in-house integrated approach to E&P evaluation ranging from subsurface analysis through to final economics and risk assessment.

Karen de Segundo, currently CEO of gas and power for Royal Dutch/Shell Group, will succeed Jim Dawson, CEO of Shell International Renewables. Dawson has retired. Linda Cook, director of business development support for Shell International Exploration & Production, will replace de Segundo as CEO, gas and power. Lorin Brass will succeed Cook. Brass was assisting the exploration and production executive committee as project leader for mergers and acquisitions.

Dave Keanini has been appointed vice-president, engineering, environmental and safety, for Western Gas Resources Inc., Denver. Keanini was general manager of engineering, environmental and safety. Keanini joined the company in 1989 as a project-process engineer after 7 years with Colorado Interstate Gas and Propak Systems.

William S. Marshall has been elected chairman of Marshall & Winston Inc., Midland, Tex. He is replacing Jim Wyman, who will remain on the board as chairman emeritus. Marshall has been president of the company since 1967 and will continue to serve as CEO. Clarence R. Chandler was named president and CEO. He has been with the company for over 18 years. Tom M. Brandt has been appointed vice-president, drilling and production operations. He joined the company in July 1985.

Iain Bartholomewhas been named managing director of Cambridge Arctic Shelf Programme, Cambirdge, UK. Bartholomew is a former director of international exploration for Oryx Energy Co.

Abdelhak Bouhafs was appointed general manager of the Algerian oil and gas company, Sonatrach. He replaces Abdelmadjid Attar. Bouhafs was a Sonatrach manager during 1989-95. He also served in executive positions in the company. He served as director of Algeria's Energy & Mines minister's office in 1988-89.

R. J. Louden has been promoted to senior vice-president, offshore production, Coastal Oil & Gas Corp., subsidiary of Coastal Corp., Houston. He was vice-president, production, Gulf Coast onshore. John D. Perry was elected vice-president, production, South Texas. C. Tim Miller has been named vice-president, production, upper Gulf Coast. Dwayne G. Jammal was named vice-president, production, Rockies Gas.

Barrett Hatches has been named president of Enstar Natural Gas Co., Anchorage. He succeeds Richard Barnes, who served the company during transition as Enstar became part of Semco Energy, Port Huron, Mich. Hatches moves to Enstar from his post as senior vice-president, human resources and public affairs, for Semco. He joined the company in 1997.

David L. Robertson has been appointed president, refining business, for Koch Petroleum Group LP, Wichita. He has served in Koch's oil refining and asphalt business as group executive vice-president, business activities. Robertson joined Koch Industries Inc. in 1984. He succeeds Jim Imbler, who is leaving the company at the end of January.

Ralph Eads has been named group executive vice-president of El Paso Production Co., a newly formed business unit of El Paso Energy Corp., Houston. The company's new executive team includes Jack Holmes, president; Bob Cavnar, senior vice-president and chief financial officer; Rick Piacenti, vice-prsident and controller; Joe Mills, vice-president acquisitions and land; Kevin McMichael, vice-president, exploration; and Bill Griffin, vice-president, operations and development. In addition, Bryan Simmons has assumed the position of director of the coalbed methane group. El Paso Production will operate primarily in the Gulf of Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Alabama.
