Trial run of FCCU additive reduces fuel-oil production in heavy feed

In a trial run at the National Petroleum Refiners (Pty.) Ltd. (Natref) refinery, Sasolburg, South Africa, a bottoms-cracking additive reduced the fluid-catalytic cracking unit (FCCU) fuel-oil bottoms yields by about 2.4 wt %, giving the refinery flexibility in dealing with high bottoms-making feeds.Natref tested Intercat Inc.'s BCA-105 bottoms-cracking additive for 2 months.
