Brunei

The government let a contract for 10,000 sq km of exclusive multicomponent 3D seismic surveys in advance of a deepwater licensing round.

Petroleum Geo-Services ASA, Oslo, was starting the survey in August and was to deliver final data in 9 months.

The Ramform Challenger vessel will tow 10 streamers each 6,000 m long.

The round is to be announced Oct. 9 and close Nov. 1, 2001.

Colombia

Seven Seas Petroleum Inc., Houston, began trucking crude oil from Guaduas field in the Middle Magdalena basin on Aug. 9, generating the company's first sustained revenue.

Initial rates are expected to reach 4,000-6,000 b/d of oil.

The company hopes eventually to proceed with full development of Guaduas and exploration of the subthrust Dindal prospect.

Nova Scotia

Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board sought bids on eight offshore exploration licenses covering 1.25 million ha. The call expires Oct. 30.

Gulf of Mexico

CGG and TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Co. launched a 1,700 sq km non-exclusive 3D seismic survey in the Green Canyon and Atwater Valley areas.

The 74-block survey area is adjacent to 660 blocks of 3D data acquired in the Mississippi Canyon area earlier this year.

TGS-NOPEC noted that this trend includes the gulf's densest concentration of deepwater production.

Kansas

Kansas produced an average of about 93,000 bo/d in 1999, department of revenue records show.

The top 25 oil producing companies, only one-fourth of which are public entities, produced 38.5% of the oil.
