Enron Offshore Services & Technology, a division of Enron Engineering & Construction Co., Houston, a wholly owned subsidiary of Enron Corp., has joined with Horizon Offshore, Houston, to install six pipelines for Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) in the Bay of Campeche.

Enron's Mexican marine-construction partner on the project is CCC Fabricaciones y Construcciones SA de CV, Mexico City.

The $33.6 million contract represents Enron Engineering's first offshore pipeline installation, according to Jamie Dunlap, vice-president of Enron Offshore Services.

For the new contract, known as EPC 63, Enron Engineering is providing project management, project finance, and procurement services. Project start-up was mid-April 2000 with completion targeted for October 2000.

Horizon will execute the work, providing marine equipment and offshore crews for pipeline installation and burial in 164 ft of water. The pipelines include both 12-in. OD and 24-in. OD lines. Horizon also will perform platform hook-up and commissioning.

EPC 63 represents Enron Engineering's ninth Pemex contract since the company established its marine capability 2 years ago. Since then, the company has participated in the development of a drilling platform, four accommodations platforms, two accommodations modules, and two drill rig refurbishments. All were for Pemex's Cantarell field.

Enron's Mexican fabrication partner on these projects has been CIGSA, Tampico.
