ANWR

Regarding OGJ's June 5, 2000, editorial stating that a public that is energy literate will support a stable policy on ANWR. That public may say that in spite of improving domestic supply it still does not want ANWR open and it is willing to accept the supply and price consequences of that decision. With such an informed decision the industry can get on with life and try to explore elsewhere and save money by not lobbying for something that does not have public, and therefore, political support.

The key is still investment in public or grassroots energy literacy. It is the best way to make lobbying effective and make it a "Statement of Value."

Chad project

Please note two arithmetic errors (OGJ, June 12, 2000) in articles on ExxonMobil's Chad Development Project. On page 8, Petronas' s share in the consortium is 35%, not 25%. On page 25, 80% of Chad's population should read 5.6 million instead of 56 million; i.e., Chad's total population is about 7 million.
