System fills casing string while running

The new Fill and Circulate System provides fast, effective fill-up of casing string while running. The tool is simple to install for a range of casing sizes, with safety features and efficiency in mind.

By utilizing this new system, crew involvement during operation is reduced, and the need for pumps, hoses, and other related equipment is eliminated, the company points out.

Featuring a simple hands-off design, the system is capable of filling and circulating strings ranging from 27/8 in. up to 20 in. diameter. Its main features include a circulating tool with a simple self-sealing packer cup and guide cone arrangement and a flexible high pressure hose connection located between the circulating tool and a mud saver valve to allow ease of stabbing. It also offers a mud saver valve, which prevents mud loss when the tool is outside of the casing.

One-component urethane coating

New Corothane I HS is a VOC-compliant, single-component urethane coating with the performance of a two-part urethane. It cuts preparation time, and its adhesion to even marginally prepared surfaces helps get the job done fast. In addition, the aliphatic product extends the application window with its ability to be applied at humidities up to 99% and temperatures down to 20° F., with no dew point restrictions, letting maintenance painting proceed with fewer interruptions, theh company points out.

The coating stands up to chemicals and abrasives, and its UV-resistance means that it will not yellow or chalk, even in bright sunlight. It is designed to be used on previously painted surfaces where maximum color and gloss retention are required. The product is suited for coating petrochemical facilities.

Flow computer for pipeline management

A new, application-specific flow computer helps simplify the setup and management of multistream hydrocarbon and petrochemical pipelines. The 2540 quad stream flow computer is capable of detecting up to 20 fluids flowing in four separate streams, enabling pipeline operators to accurately monitor, route, and report mass, volume, and flow rates by time and by product. Built-in MODBUS and HART interfacing facilitate integration into plant-wide DCS systems.

The 2540 combines flowmeter inputs from four independent streams with pressure, temperature, density, viscosity, and base sediment and water inputs to calculate mass, actual and standard volume, and flow rates. The unit can also calculate density and base density using American Petroleum Institute standards or custom four by five matrix referral, and viscosity and base viscosity using American Society for Testing and Materials standards, suiting it for monitoring a variety of hydrocarbon products. Built-in flowmeter linearization and viscosity compensation curves-by individual product if required -help ensure ultrahigh measurement accuracy in custody transfer applications, improve product quality, and reduce waste, the company says.

Turbine and positive displacement meter linearization and compensation are a key foundation to the 2540's measurement accuracy. A 10-point linearization curve-derived from the meter calibration data-enables the flow computer to correct the nonlinearity inherent in these flowmeters. Additionally, since small changes in viscosity can introduce large errors into the flow measurement, the 2540 can either use the ISO 4124 universal calibration curve viscosity polynomial method or can accept four viscosity calibration curves for flowmeter compensation in applications where viscosity is not consistent. In multiproduct applications, the unit can use calibration data defined for each specific duct, allowing flowmeter performance to be optimized on a product-by-product basis.
