New ball valve

A new dual seal ball valve offers two independent seals on each side of the trunnion mounted ball. It is two valves in one body.

Units are available in sizes of 2-24 in. in all standard ANSI classes.

The valve is specifically designed to replace slab gate valves in all liquids and refined products services, the company points out. Valves are API monogrammed.

The new, nonintrusive IQ valve actuator lets users download on-site valve operation data via its infrared port to a PC or cell phone as a standard feature. No hardwire hookup is needed. It enables users to easily and quickly monitor valve operation data and diagnose valve problems.

The new actuator comes bundled with this firm's IQ-Insight software that provides charts, graphs, and other formats to help users check valve torque profiles and valve operation statistics.

Other features include:

  • Double sealing protection, which prevents ingress of moisture and dirt.
  • Digital communication connectivity through Pakscan, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and Modbus.
  • On-board data logger included as standard.
  • Reduced number of components made possible by system-on-a-chip electronics that enhance reliability and performance.
  • Enhanced corrosion protection.
  • Three-phase, single-phase, and dc power supplies are accepted.
  • Easy installation, commissioning, and reconfiguring via a nonintrusive hand-setting tool.

These new pipe welding vises offer positive alignment for the most common pipe welding needs.

Machined surfaces help ensure correct meeting of straight pipe with the Model PWV461R and straight pipe-to-elbow with the PWV463R. Screws and chains allow easy, firm clamping. PWV461R holds 1/2-8 in. (21-225 mm) pipe, while the PWV463R holds 2-8 in. (60-225 mm) pipe.

Internet seismic processing

A newly launched service could help cut the cost of geophysical data processing. The service, Interactive Internet Processing, consists of a worldwide network of supercomputer hardware to be used in tandem with customers' choices of commercial software packages.

Customers can use this vendor's supercomputers and software and avoid the expense of purchasing, maintaining, and upgrading their own.

Terms are pay-as-you-use at $25/hr.

The system, which permits collaboration, can be used to monitor field projects, including watching or controlling instrument progress in real time, while allowing activity control in remote sites.

The Edison 1616 temperature monitor scans 16 RTDs at more than 1,000 ft.

It uses compact RTD transmitters on a common four-wire buss. The monitor is configured using a standard PC keyboard and will accommodate platinum, nickel, or copper RTDs. Time/date calendar and history buffer maintain events as required.

The monitor scans preprogrammed temperatures and activates an alarm relay if the monitored RTD temperature exceeds its set point. Text boxes allow users to name the temperature locations and store information pertaining to the specific channel.

The unit is suited for process control, rotating equipment, large motor bearings, cogeneration turbine plants, pipeline transmission facilities, and remote gas pumping stations, the company says.
