Marine Technology Society (MTS) has named Sandeep Khurana, a facility engineer with Paragon Engineering Services, Inc., chairman of the Houston section.

MTS organizes the Undersea Cables and Connector Conference and ROV Conference and supports activities at the Offshore Technology Conference.

Khurana has more than 20 years of diversified experience in engineering design, including detailed design of topsides facilities, structural design of offshore drilling and production platforms and technical support and management responsibilities for the fabrication and installation of platforms and topside facilities.

Paragon Engineering Services, Inc. provides front-end engineering, detailed design, project management, procurement, construction management, inspection and training services to the oil and gas and pipeline industries.

Paragon's expertise encompasses oil and gas production and treating, gas compression, onshore and offshore pipelines, onshore facilities, offshore platforms, floating production/storage and offloading facilities, subsea systems and safety and environmental management programs.

Datalog,

Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has named Michael Eddy account representative for Datalog Canada Limited. Eddy will be responsible for Western Canadian operations of Datalog's Geologger gas detection & mud logging services. Eddy's position will include the introduction of the GasWizard direct gas measurement device into the marketplace for the millennium, as well as the WelIWizard drilling monitoring system.

Datalog is an international oilfield service company, focusing on advanced data acquisition systems and geological monitoring solutions. Datalog has operated throughout North America, South America and Europe for the past 15 years.

Schlumberger Oilfield Services

has acquired Houston-based Operational Services, Inc. (OSI), a supplier of oilfield operational management services.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of Schlumberger, OSI will work in close cooperation with other Schlumberger reservoir optimization services, including Integrated Project Management (IPM) and Production Operators, to deliver a systematic approach to field management.

Services offered by OSI fall into three broad categories-operational, engineering and mechanical services. OSI offers clients a systematic approach to production management through efficient systems and processes such as operations reporting; maintenance and repair management; production QHSE; production accounting and allocation; customer revenue accounting interface; production/facilities engineering and controls.

J.E.P. Sheeler, Jr., president, will continue to manage the daily operations of the organization, founded OSI in 1990.

Brandt has also served in sales management positions for an oilfield supply company and a steel mill.

Dallas, Tex., has named R.G. (Dick) Owston vice president of their gas measurement subsidiary (Metron). Owston has over 30 years of experience in the service industry with such noted companies as General Electric, Universal Computing, The Western Co. and most recently Geo-Resources. Metron is a fully integrated gas measurement company, headquarted in Shreveport, La.

Sandvik Steel

has named Leif Johansson managing director for Sandvik Chomutov Precision Tubes (SCPT) in the Czech Republic.

He was formerly general production manager for Cold Finished Tube Division and general project manager during the installation of Sandvik's latest high technology stainless steel tube mill in Sandviken, Sweden. In his new role he assumes full responsibility for the Chomutov plant which specialises in the production of super duplex stainless steel umbilical tubing for the oil and gas industry, u-bent heat exchanger tubes, steam generator and boiler tubing.

Johansson joined Sandvik Steel in 1982 as a research engineer in Sandvik's R & D department. He was one of the team members who developed the super duplex stainless steel grade Sandvik SAF 2507 during the mid 80's. His key contribution was to develop the cold working technology for SAF 2507 umbilical tubing, used in oil and gas exploration, which enabled Sandvik to secure its first order for Statoil's Statfjord North Sea project in 1991.
