Houston, Tex., has named Thomas A. (Tom) Lopus vice president - director of client operations. Lopus is a petroleum engineer with over twenty years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He will be responsible for managing all oil and gas operator and service provider interaction with a primary focus on product development and enhancement.

Lopus was most recently U.S. operations manager for TotalFINA, where he managed the drilling, production, HSE (health, safety and environment), surface, field operations, and purchasing functions for all of TotalFINA's U.S. offshore and onshore operations.

Lopus began his career in 1980 working for Tenneco, where he held various engineering positions. In 1988, he joined FINA Oil and Chemical Co. and served as drilling and production manager in Okla. City, Okla., and Midland, Tex. In 1993, Lopus was promoted to general manager of the Central Division in Houston, and later became the general manager for FINA's Production Div.

Veritas Geophysical Services,

Houston, Tex., a subsidiary of Veritas DGC Inc., has named Tor Haugland vice president of acquisition technology. Haugland's role will be to provide technical leadership and vision for the Veritas fleet of marine seismic vessels worldwide.

Haugland has over 30 years of experience in the geophysical industry and has held senior technical, research and managerial positions with Geco, Western Geophysical, Seismic Profilers and PGS. Most recently, he was instrumental in the technical and business development of PGS's four-component company, PGS Reservoir.

Veritas DGC Inc. provides integrated geological and geophysical technologies to the petroleum industry worldwide.

The Expro Group

has extended its range of cased hole services available to the global market through the acquisition of the Kinley Corp. Houston-headquartered Kinley Corp. is a provider of mechanical multifinger caliper technology, designed to detect, measure and monitor downhole corrosion, erosion and deformation, and a range of specialized slickline 'Power Tools'.

Kinley employs a team of engineers and technicians who manage, design, manufacture, test and maintain an innovative range of downhole calipers and 'Power Tools' (including wireline jars, cutters and perforators). The company has a fleet of over 150 tool sets currently in circulation worldwide and, more recently, has completed the initial trials of a new digital caliper data system which will be launched later this year. In addition, Kinley maintains a global data interpretation centre and fully equipped educational facility for client training. This facility includes a test well for the research and development of Kinley's own technologies as well as those of its clients and suppliers.

The Expro Group's Cased Hole Services business stream focuses mainly on the production phase of hydrocarbon recovery, combining the services that deliver downhole intervention or production enhancement. Ponca City, Okla., has agreed to purchase Compressor Pump and Engine Machine Inc. (CP&E) from Paradigm Services LLC.

CP&E, Casper, Wyo., is a diversified service company for the natural gas compression, refining, power generation, and mining industries. CP&E was founded in 1975, purchased in 1996 by KN Energy Inc., and subsequently purchased by Paradigm in 1999 as part of a group of companies divested by Kinder Morgan (former KN Energy Inc.).

Nickles Industrial is comprised of the former Nickles Machine Corp.,Panhandle Industrial Co., Gray County Machine Co., Kansas Cylinder Head Co., D-MEC Compression Services, and now CP&E to be the largest independent aftermarket power parts producer for large stationary natural gas compressors. Dallas, Tex., has named Martin R. Schoenthaler vice president, sales and marketing.

Schoenthaler will lead the strategic and tactical practices to increase market penetration, grow Allegro's brand image, and continue to expand relationships with the energy and technology industries' leaders.

His 16-year tenure with IBM grew from an account marketing representative role and account marketing support representative to client manager, and then manufacturing segment executive. As a business unit executive, Schoenthaler was responsible for managing major oil and gas accounts across the Central and Western United States.
