A new generation of single-string retrievable packers is rated for service in high pressure/high temperature environments. The Reliant Series packers tolerate high tension loads and are designed for easy set and release.

Model M is a mechanical, compression set version designed for through-tubing fracs. It has a shorter length than conventional packers for passage through tight spots and doglegs. It operates reliably in combined conditions of 10,000 psi differential pressure and a 350

Model WL is a wireline-set unit that can be run under pressure and allows frac sand and debris to be washed completely from the retrievable plug's lock, for effective plug removal. Run as a temporary bridge plug, the WL allows remedial or stimulation work above the packer.

Both models are designed for applications in casing sizes of 41/2-75/8 in.

Here's the Minotaur 2500W Series generator, a compact, spark-ignition, prime-power unit designed for long-life, continuous unattended operation. It's suited for remote off-grid locations, particularly pipeline cathodic protection.

The four-stroke, single-cylinder engine is designed for a continuous service lifetime of up to 40,000 hr, with a minimum routine maintenance interval of 6 months. It runs on natural gas and propane fuels and is matched with a reliable alternator, the company points out.

It is easily installed, and its fully coated, all-weather aluminum enclosure protects against the elements. At 460 lb, the generator is transportable by vehicle or aircraft, and can be up and running with minimal site preparation, the firm says. It can be remotely monitored and controlled through cellular technology, and it will soon have satellite communications capabilities.

Packaged communications

Packaged communications solutions for remote areas help extend data collection and reporting capabilities to areas not previously reached. This is done via enhanced network connectivity in combination with a new "Director" series of data collection products and an array of communications solutions.

For remote applications such as pipeline monitoring, the company offers a choice of communications solutions that can integrate a variety of satellite services, which include VSAT, Globalstar, Inmarsat, or LandSat satellite services.

Field data such as tank levels, temperature measurements, flow data, and meter-reading information are collected by the Director from the remote location and transmitted through a hub, where the information is published to an MQSI data broker. From there, a messaging system carries the data directly to your business application.

Radar tank gauge

The radar tank gauge TankRadar Rex is designed with an open interface to fit into existing tank gauging systems. This multivendor connectivity helps make it easy to incorporate in field bus systems of other makes.

The open system design covers everything from electrical interface and communication protocol to utilization of existing power sources. The power supply can be made to fit the existing voltage available on the tank.

Electrical installation is done using existing tank wiring. Temperature sensors are connected directly to the Rex head or to a data acquisition unit. Relay wiring and analog input connections are terminated at the Rex head.

Knife gate valve bulletin

The new 2-page, full-color Bulletin 30.00-3, yours free for the asking, describes how high performance knife gate valves are designed to reduce maintenance in oilsands operations.

The bulletin provides valve specifications, which include ANSI Class 150 and 300 ratings, as well as body design and gate specifications. Actuators, bonnets, and seat/deflection cones are also described.
