Pioneer Natural Resources Co., Dallas, plans to drill as many as 64 wells this year on Neuquen basin acreage.
Its Borde Colorado-1006 on a new structure defined by 3D seismic data on the Al Sur de la Dorsal block flowed 450 bo/d from about 1,500 m. Pioneer plans to drill 14 wells this year on blocks acquired last year, including three to four wells near the 1006 discovery.
In the Al Norte de la Dorsal area 50 wells are planned this year. Two wells on the Huincul Block greatly exceeded expectations. H-139 flowed 320 bo/d and 400 Mcfd, and H-140 flowed 1.2 MMcfd and 140 bo/d.
Nigeria
Chevron's affiliate was to spud a wildcat in the Benue trough at Futuk in northeastern Bauchi State in early April.
A spokesman denied press reports that it was ending its search in the area, where it signed production-sharing agreements on six blocks in 1994.
