The mating of Anadarko Petroleum Corp.'s 500-ton Hickory platform cellar deck to it legs required a 70-ft lift with ten 100-ton cranes at Gulf Island Fabrication Inc.'s yard in Houma, La.

Paragon Engineering Services Inc., Houston, is providing the engineering and design work for building Hickory's three-level-deck topsides, which when complete will weigh 3,500 tons.

To facilitate the design, Paragon is employing 3D CADD PDMS (computer aided design and drafting, plant design management system) software. It says the software minimizes design conflicts and interference between structural, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and other components.

The platform is bound for Gulf of Mexico's Block Grande Isle 16. Plans call for setting the platform in 324 ft of water in August 2000.
