Questar Corp.'s Celsius Energy Resources Ltd. unit plans to drill as many as 10 wells on the undeveloped portion of properties acquired from Reserve Royalty Corp. for $3.1 million. The properties, containing 4.8 bcfe of proved reserves, 90% gas, are in the Cecil Lake, Donis, East Clark Lake, Martin, Oak, Red Creek, Sikanni, Silver, and Taylor Flat areas. The deal included 24 oil and gas wells, 133 km of proprietary seismic data, and working interests in numerous gas gathering and processing

British Columbia

Questar Corp.'s Celsius Energy Resources Ltd. unit plans to drill as many as 10 wells on the undeveloped portion of properties acquired from Reserve Royalty Corp. for $3.1 million.

The properties, containing 4.8 bcfe of proved reserves, 90% gas, are in the Cecil Lake, Donis, East Clark Lake, Martin, Oak, Red Creek, Sikanni, Silver, and Taylor Flat areas. The deal included 24 oil and gas wells, 133 km of proprietary seismic data, and working interests in numerous gas gathering and processing facilities.

Saskatchewan

Berkley Petroleum Corp., Calgary, said the Berkley et al. Midale 8-16-6-11w2 well in southeastern Saskatch- ewan opens a large number of drilling opportunities at Midale and surrounding areas.

It flowed 1,050 b/d of clean, 55° gravity oil at 1,150 psi tubing pressure from Ordovician Winnipeg sand. Interests are Berkley 75% and Paramount Resources 25%.

Bolivia

Tesoro Petroleum Corp., San Antonio, said three wells added 222 bcf equivalent of net proved, probable, and possible reserves, of which 56 bcfe are net proved reserves.

Los Suris X3, a dual completion, flowed a combined 16.3 MMcfd of gas with 282 b/d of condensate on a 20/64 in. choke from an undisclosed zone. Los Suris X4 made 1.5 MMcfd from a new reservoir prior to stimulation.

Escondido X7 cut 175 ft of potential hydrocarbons but was not successfully tested due to a cement job failure. It is to be sidetracked later.

California

Berry Petroleum Co., Taft, Calif., agreed to acquire 700 acre Placerita oil field and an associated 42 MW cogeneration plant in Los Angeles County from Aera Energy LLC for $35 million.

State figures show the field had 11.67 million bbl of remaining reserves as of Dec. 31, 1997, having yielded 55.5 million bbl since 1920. December 1998 production averaged 2,800 b/d of 13° gravity oil.

Louisiana

Follow-up drilling is planned to an exploratory success in Terrebonne Parish.

Fina Oil & Chemical Co. plans to place the 1 Harry Bourg Corp., in 2-20s-16e, Bayou Rambio field, on line this month.

It flowed as much as 1,498 b/d of 43° gravity oil and 1.2 MMcfd of gas with 9,459 psi FTP on an 8/64 in. choke from Upper Miocene Lower Cibicides carstensi at about 15,550 ft, reported Kelley Oil & Gas Corp., Houston, an interest owner in the well with Fina and Castex Energy Inc., Houston.

Total prospective closure of the structure updip of the sands found in the well exceeds 2,700 acres based on Kelley's 3D seismic mapping.

Textularia W at 17,320 ft flowed at rates as high as 1,056 b/d of oil and 1.064 MMcfd of gas at 7,705 psi FTP on an 8/64 in. choke. This zone began producing water, and the partners elected to complete in Cib. carst.

Follow-up wells will target several sands encountered in the 1 Bourg, including the two zones tested.

Ohio

Ohio Division of Geological Survey, Petroleum Geology Group has published a comprehensive oil and gas well production data base on CD-Rom.

Compiled the past 13 years from data obtained from companies and individuals, the data base contains records from more than 58,000 wells. Production is current through 1996, and some data are as old as 1921.

The diskette, available from the survey in Columbus for $25 plus tax and handling, is searchable by county, township, section, lot, producing formation, operator, API number, and various combinations. Enhancements are planned.

Tennessee

Young Oil Corp., Knob Lick, Ky., has completed six oil wells in the past 6 months from Mississippian Fort Payne at 500-600 ft in Overton County.

The most recent completion, 1 Stover-Mullins, in 8-1s-51e, in Big Eagle Creek field, made 107 b/d of oil.

Texas

East
Tesoro Petroleum Corp. is to start sales this month from a multizone well in Anderson County, where it is evaluating potential for more drilling.

The 1 Nolley, 2.5 miles southeast of Bethel, is being dually completed from Cretaceous Massive and Upper Rodessa.

Massive Rodessa flowed 303 b/d of oil and 800 Mcfd of gas on an 18/64 in. adjustable choke with 652 psia FTP, and Upper Rodessa made 1.1 MMcfd and 21 b/d on a 24/64 in. adjustable choke with 652 psia FTP.

Cretaceous Pettit flowed 1.5 MMcfd and 19 b/d on a 7/64 in. adjustable choke with 3,210 psia FTP.

Tesoro holds 100% of the Nolley well and 75% in 1,060 surrounding acres.
