Servomex plc, Norwood, Mass., providers of gas analysis, including its U.S. subsidiary Servomex, Inc., has been acquired by the UK based company Fairey Group, plc. Fairey Group is comprised of sixteen autonomous companies that are specialists across a broad spectrum of process technologies such as process instrumentation, electronic controls and filtration systems. Their commitment to the customer is to strengthen automated manufacturing processes and to improve output quality, productivity, yield and competitiveness.

Servomex's primary business is gas analysis instrumentation. Servomex has extensive experience providing both analyzers and related sampling systems to customers in the pharmaceutical, petrochemical, steel, marine, chemical, oil, power and gas industries. Norton Chemical Process Products Corp., Akron, Ohio, has entered into a joint service agreement with Synetix Services, the provider of Tracerco scanning technology, to better serve mass transfer customers worldwide. The agreement combines Norton's extensive process experience with Synetix's preeminence in the field of tower diagnostics and troubleshooting to streamline the delivery of a broad continuum of mass transfer services.

The agreement draws upon Norton's process engineering and equipment design expertise and Synetix's strengths in radioisotope technology. While the two companies will remain independent of one another, they will work together as a team to deliver a complete package of services that includes troubleshooting, process design, equipment supply, repair and installation. In addition to providing their own parts and equipment, Norton can provide replacement parts for other manufacturers' mass transfer equipment as well.

Synetix has more than 30 years of continuous development in scanning and diagnostic technology.

Norton Chemical Process Products Corp. engineers and manufactures tower packings, internals and fractionation trays for the chemical, petrochemical, refining, and allied industries. Norton offers a range of high-performance and standard products in metal, plastic and ceramic materials. Landmark Graphics Corp., Houston, Tex., a wholly-owned business unit of Halliburton Co., has acquired Economic Analysis Systems, a Houston-based company that provides software programs and consulting services for portfolio planning and risk management.

Economic Analysis Systems is well known in the energy industry for its state-of-the-art TERAStrademark software program. TERAS combines economic evaluation and analysis with portfolio modeling and optimization to help companies improve and accelerate decision making by clarifying potential risk and return. Advanced economic modeling techniques allow users to better identify and evaluate the inherent uncertainties associated with oil and gas accumulations, production and development, prices and other economic factors that impact profitability.

TERAS contains several components for the energy industry including exploration, exploitation and development evaluations; acquisition and divestiture; and production management. TERAS is designed to capture all the relevant data from multiple disciplines and can be used globally to incorporate country-specific information such as political risk.

Yokogawa Electric Corp. and Dresser Equipment Group, Inc. (DEG), a business unit of Halliburton Company, are entering into a customer-focused alliance to develop and market FOUNDATIONtrademark fieldbus products, integrated systems and management tools to improve process availability. In a joint statement, the companies announced that the alliance will focus on providing process industry customers with reduced enterprise-wide costs, compressed project schedules, and minimized technology implementation risks. The two companies will cooperate immediately on both technology and systems integration of a new FOUNDATION fieldbus complaint positioner.

Key customer benefits will include cost reductions resulting from fully integrated sensor-to-boardroom solutions, advanced technologies, technical applications experience, enterprise wide control and communication, and one-stop shopping. Risks associated with fieldbus implementation will be significantly reduced based upon the combined expertise of the alliance partners, an integrated global support infrastructure, proven reliability, and improved business efficiencies from project concept to revenue.

The alliance will establish a focused team of professionals who will take on single source responsibility to coordinate a "basket" approach on purchasing agreements and projects. The execution and coordination of the project will allow customers to spend their time on other key issues.
