Flexibility, efficiency to characterize gas-processing technologies

Technologies in gas processing that have evolved since 1980 point towards major trends in natural gas processing in the early years of the 21st Century. An example of the new generation of gas plant, Amoco Production Co.'s Jayhawk plant in the Hugoton field, southwest Kansas, started up in late 1998. The plant's fractionation train and de-ethanizer and de-propanizer towers (shown here) have given the plant the flexibility characteristic of more recent design philosophies.
