Kerr-McGee Corp. encountered 66 ft of net pay at a gas-condensate discovery near the southwestern corner of East Breaks Block 642.

The well, in 3,500 ft of water on the West Boomvang Prospect, is three miles west of the North Boomvang discovery well (see map, OGJ, Nov. 8, 1999, p. 80). Kerr-McGee is drilling an appraisal well on a separate fault block. It plans to drill a wildcat at East Breaks 688 (East Boomvang).

Minerals Management Service awarded Kerr-McGee blocks 601 and 641, brings the company's total to nine blocks in the Greater Boomvang and Nansen areas.
