An Intergraph Corp. Company, Intergraph UK Ltd., has signed a $2 million (U.S.) software and services contract with Statoil A.S. and partners for implementation of a comprehensive Plant Information Management (PIM) system. At the heart of the PIM solution is the Intergraph Notiatrademark engineering data warehouse together with its document management solution, Directatrademark. These will deliver data and document management in real time across the Statoil-operated $4.4 billion (U.S.) Asgard project in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. Asgard is the world's most extensive subsea oil and gas production project.

Notia will ensure integrity of data by providing live and accurate information across all stages of the facility life cycle, including interactive engineering change management. Asgard project collaborators consist of the Asgard partners, the Asgard B central engineering team and engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contractors and suppliers. They will all have controlled access and use of the data where they need it, when they need it and in whatever form is required. PIM will also be adopted by Statoil Asgard operations for access and maintenance of life-cycle information and documentation. A key element of the PIM solution is its web-enabled front end for intuitive access to information and documentation, as well as delivery, including 2D and 3D graphical browsing, over the Statoil corporate Intranet and the Internet to authorized users throughout the world.

Contract Includes Module Development and Enhancement.

As part of this partnership, new Notia modules being developed or enhanced include: a tag manager module for the identification of the tag-to-asset relationship and handling of equipment data such as data sheets and equipment lists; a standard equipment module that Asgard is pioneering; an engineering change management module; an electrical distribution module; and modules for administration of access rights and defining project engineering numbering rules.

Statoil has also chosen Intergraph INtoolstrademark software for the design, engineering and life cycle maintenance of instrumentation systems. Part of the development will be to provide a COTS integration between Notia and INtools.

Statoil is a net seller of crude oil, a substantial supplier of natural gas to Europe and a retailer of gasoline and other oil products in Scandinavia. A pioneer of the data warehousing model based on POSC/CAESAR industry standards, Statoil was among the first to adopt Notia as a repository of engineering data formats for the design and engineering phases of Asgard B.
