IsraelIsramco Inc., Houston, said a seismic survey mapped a number of gas prospects on the southern part of the Med Yavne Marine license which it operates in the Mediterranean.Isramco recommended that the seven partners approve drilling of the Or 1 exploratory well to 6,500 ft some 22 miles northwest of Ashkelon in 213 ft of water. This site is near the Noa 1 discovery that a group in which Isramco is not a member tested at 30 MMcfd of gas in June (see map, OGJ, July 5, 1999, p. 29).Isramco recommended using the rig that in late August had reached 8,300 ft at the Yam West 2 well without encountering hydrocarbons and was about to penetrate the main target.
