Polish Oil & Gas Co. in 1996 discovered a large structure in western Poland based on 3D seismic data. The Buszewo-Mostno-Barn- owko structure, near Gorzow Wielkopolski, is said to hold 488 million bbl of oil and 1.04 tcf of gas recoverable. Status of the field is unknown, but it may have been a factor in boosting Poland's 1996 yearend reserves to 40 million bbl from 31 million bbl (OGJ, Dec. 30, 1996, p. 40).

Frontier Oil Exploration Co. (FX), Salt Lake City, and RWE-DEA AG, Hamburg, will drill two more wells on the 2.4 million acre Warmia concession. The first, Orneta 1, hit water in Cambrian sandstone. TD is 7,987 ft.

Apache Corp. recently agreed to take a 50% interest with FX and become operator in the 2 million acre Lublin concession (OGJ, Apr. 28, 1997, p. 45).

Wielkopolska Energia SA, a Texaco-Tenneco combine, is analyzing 1,000 line km of seismic data to define areas for acquiring 3D data in central Poland.

Medusa Oil & Gas of Poland holds a four block concession in the Carpathians in the south.

Exxon and Shell units are negotiating for a concession about 150 miles west of Warsaw (OGJ, Sept. 16, 1996, p. 26).
