Unit monitors oil in water

April 28, 1997
EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE/LITERATURE The TD-4100 XD is a low maintenance, nonfouling, continuous on-line oil in water monitor. It is designed for offshore oil production, refinery uses, and petrochemical operations. It continuously verifies the effectiveness of oil in water treatment systems. Units can provide continuous feedback for process control and treatment verification for discharge and reinjection applications.

The XD does not have a glass flow cell. Rather, it features a proprietary nonfouling, noncontact flow cell. Hydrocarbons are detected in a stream of water, which falls through an open chamber; the water stream does not contact, dirty, or foul the optical windows used for monitoring hydrocarbons in water. A proprietary Air Curtain system keeps optical windows in the open chamber fog-free in humid environments or hot water applications.

Drill-in fluid brochure

A free 12 page brochure discusses FLO-PRO drill-in fluid technology.

The literature highlights FLO-PRO's features and benefits designed to optimize completions and reservoir production during all phases of a pay zone's development. FLO-PRO is a water base, environmentally suitable formulation that has a high degree of low shear rate viscosity (LSRV), a low to no solids content, low friction factor for low pump pressures and high ROP, a high capacity for cuttings transport, and a nondamaging nature.

The drill-in system is best utilized in drilling applications that demand low solids and high LSRV such as coiled tubing drilling, milling, multilaterals, underreaming, reentries, and work- overs.

The brochure also discusses the two main components of the basic system-FLO-VIS, a clarified biopolymer that provides minimal plastic viscosity and high LSRV, and FLO-TROL, a starch derivative that assists with fluid-loss control. FLO-PRO is compatible with a full range of additives.

Geospatial analysis software

Version 4.0 of Earth Vision is geospatial analysis software used for enhanced petroleum reservoir characterization and 3D well placement planning.

This release includes new analytical capabilities including time to depth model conversion, additional well positioning tools, and volume calculations supporting the most complex EarthVision geologic structure models.

A new 3D well path interpolation technique used during 3D well placement planning produces interpolated points defining a smooth well path between way-path points. Information useful during planning and tracking wells-the x, y, and z-offsets from KB, change in azimuth and inclination, radius of curvature, MD, and dogleg angle and severity-are calculated for each interpolated point.
