SHELL PLANS MAJOR DEEPWATER GULF CRUDE PIPELINES

Shell Pipe Line Corp. plans to lay a $100 million, 200,000 b/d pipeline tem to move crude oil to shore from deepwater developments in the Gulf of Mexico. The main part of the new pipeline system will consist of about 100 miles of 20 in. subsea line connecting wells in Green Canyon and Ewing Bank federal planning areas to Shell Offshore Inc.'s Mars pipeline and to the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port's storage facility at Clovelly, La.

Shell Pipe Line Corp. plans to lay a $100 million, 200,000 b/d pipeline tem to move crude oil to shore from deepwater developments in the Gulf of Mexico.

The main part of the new pipeline system will consist of about 100 miles of 20 in. subsea line connecting wells in Green Canyon and Ewing Bank federal planning areas to Shell Offshore Inc.'s Mars pipeline and to the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port's storage facility at Clovelly, La.

In addition, Shell will lay a 25 mile, 20 in. sour crude pipeline to transport oil from Shell Offshore's Auger tension leg platform in 2,860 ft of water on Garden Banks Block 426 and from other proposed deepwater projects in other proposed deep%vater projects in the area to the Bonito and Eugene Island crude oil pipelines for shipment to storage facilities at St. James, La.

Each 20 in. line will have a design capacity of 200,000 b/d.

Shell said pipelaying is to begin about mid-1995, pending the granting of necessary permits, with completion slated for 1996.
