Eastern Europe's biggest refinery will get two major new units.

Petrochemia Plock let contract to Snamprogetti, a subsidiary of Italy's state owned petroleum group Ente Nazionale ldrocarburi, for construction of a 54,500 b/sd hydrocracker.

The plant will be built at Petrochemia's 200,000 b/d refinery at Plock, Poland-the largest refinery in eastern Europe.

The project is designed to help meet Polish demand for low sulfur and reformulated fuels and to enable Petrochemia Plock to comply with European environmental legislation. The hydrocracker, based on UOP Inc./Unocal Corp. technology, will be built in 33 months.

Snamprogetti's contract includes detail engineering, equipment and materials supply, construction supervision, and commissioning assistance.

HYDROGEN PLANT

As part of the hydrocracker project, Petrochemia also let contract to KTI Group By, Zeotermeer, Netherlands, for design and supply of a 111,000 normal cu m/hr (94 MMscfd) hydrogen plant.

The hydrogen plant, which KTI calls one of the world's largest, can convert feedstocks ranging from natural gas to naphtha.

Advanced control and optimization software will be included, to help reduce production costs. Value of KTI's contract is 80 million gilders.
