OKLAHOMA HYDROTREATER NEARLY FINISHED

Sept. 13, 1993
Total Petroleum Inc. is near completion of its $135 million hydrotreater project at its company's Ardmore, Okla., refinery. Total's 70,000 b/d Ardmore refinery normally produces about 45,000 b/d of gasoline and 15,000 b/d of diesel fuel. The new unit, however, will allow more variations in the product mix in response to market conditions. It also will permit a much wider variety of crude feedstock. Desulfurization capacity of the unit is 38,000 b/d of gas oil and resid and 28,000 b/d

Desulfurization capacity of the unit is 38,000 b/d of gas oil and resid and 28,000 b/d of mixed distillates. It will be able to produce more than 100 tons/day of liquid sulfur,

The main pressure vessel in the hydrotreater is made of 8 in. thick steel. It weighs 584 tons, is 90 ft long, and took a year to manufacture in Kobe, Japan.

Litwin Engineers & Constructors Inc. designed and is building the unit.
