Anonima Petroli Italiana (API) has chosen Texaco Inc.'s gasification power systems technology for use in a 220,000 kw cogeneration unit to be built in its 63,000 b/cd refinery at Falconara, Italy. Anonima Petroli Italiana (API) has chosen Texaco Inc.'s gasification power systems technology for use in a 220,000 kw cogeneration unit to be built in its 63,000 b/cd refinery at Falconara, Italy.

It's the third major gasification power project in Italy using Texaco technology disclosed within the last year.

The project will be developed by API Energia SpA and a group of Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) companies under license from Texaco Development Corp., the patent and licensing subsidiary of Texaco Inc.

To be finished in 1996, the project will gasify 7,700 b/d of visbreaker tar, to produce electrical power for sale to the local utility company. The project also will produce electricity and steam for refinery use, along with sulfur for export.
