CERI: Market access key to Canadian bitumen output

Outcomes in two areas of critical uncertainty can mean a difference in Canadian bitumen production in 2030 of 1.7-1.8 million b/d, according to a study published by the Canadian Energy Research Institute. Of the two crucial variables, social license and market access, the latter more strongly influences bitumen output. In collaboration with ICF International and Scenarios to Strategy, CERI modeled production under four scenarios defined by those variable.
