Study: Catalyst demand to reach $19.5 billion in 2016

Global demand for petroleum refining, chemical synthesis, and polymerization catalysts will rise 5.8%/year to $19.5 billion in 2016, according to World Catalysts, a new study from the Freedonia Group Inc., Cleveland, Ohio. The study further says growth will result from rising output of refining, chemical, and polymer industries, particularly in developing nations, as well as from an ongoing shift in catalyst product mix toward higher value, more efficient catalysts. Polymerization catalysts, says the study, will grow the strongest, with gains in large developing economies, as well as in the Middle East.
