Mears Group Inc.,
Rosebush, Mich., has appointed Craig Chaney chief engineer, integrity solutions. Supporting specialized assessment projects for the gas, oil, and nuclear industries, he will be working from the firm’s San Ramon, Calif. office. Chaney has 34 years of experience in the energy industry. He started his career as a metallurgical engineer for PG&E in its engineering research department. In 2002, he became an associate at Structural Integrity Associates, where he founded the company’s pipeline services division. Chaney has a BS in metallurgical engineering from California Polytechnic University and an MBA from Saint Mary’s College.

Mears, part of Qanta Services, is a leader in corrosion engineering, pipeline integrity management, pipeline rehabilitation, and horizontal directional drilling services throughout North and South America.

Qanta provides specialized contracting services, delivering solutions for the electric power, natural gas and pipeline, and telecommunication industries.

CGGVeritas,

Paris, has entered into a joint venture with Norwegian shipowner Eidesvik Offshore to manage 10 high-capacity 3D vessels in the CGGVeritas fleet, including the two new X-BOW vessels, Oceanic Vega and Oceanic Sirius. The JV, CGGVeritas Eidesvik Ship Management AS, will be based in Bergen, Norway, and is owned 51% by Eidesvik and 49% by CGGVeritas. It creates an integrated team of professionals dedicated to ship management to fully support and develop the performance of the fleet.

Jee,
Aberdeen and Abu Dhabi, has named Alan Gray business development director, based in Aberdeen. Gray has 28 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. In addition, Jee has promoted Paul Job to engineering manager for the Aberdeen office. Job, a chartered mechanical engineer, has been with Jee since 2002. He has worked on a wide range of pipeline and subsea engineering projects, from feasibility studies to operations and decommissioning.

Jee is an independent firm that provides whole-life engineering solutions for oil and gas pipelines and risers and offshore wind farm cables, including research and feasibility studies; design, construction, and installation analysis; and integrity management and decommissioning.

Caterpillar Global Petroleum,

Houston, has been chosen to provide China’s state-owned CNOOC Ltd. with eight 16 M-32 C crude oil engine generator sets to be installed on two offshore production platforms in Panyu 4-2/5-1 oil field in the South China Sea. The two platforms will each have four generator sets with auxiliary equipment, which will include fuel supply modules, cooling modules, separator skids, lube oil skids, and control panels. All eight sets were to be delivered in April 2011. Construction of the platforms will occur at CONHW’s Zhanjiang, China, shipyard.

Caterpillar Global Petroleum groups all the sales and service activities for Cat petroleum engines within Caterpillar Inc. Caterpillar is a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, clean diesel and natural gas engines, and industrial gas turbines.

Quality Cos. USA LLC,

Youngsville, La., has acquired Traco Production Services Inc., also of Youngsville. Quality, with corporate headquarters in Youngsville and Quality Production Management LLC offices in New Iberia, La., will consolidate operations at Traco’s existing 14-acre facility in Youngsville, where it plans to build fabrication and paint facilities, as well as a new, 12,000 sq ft corporate headquarters. Construction was slated to begin in late April, with completion by January 1, 2012.

Quality Cos. provides oil and gas construction, fabrication, and contract production services.

Traco offers oil and gas production components, including new and refurbished production equipment, separators, pressure vessels, instrument and electrical safety systems, and complete dehydration systems, along with installation and repair for most of the products it sells. Traco also provides valve repair and equipment maintenance services, vessel fabrication and repair, and glycol unit cleaning and servicing along with other production-related services.

Pilko & Associates,
Houston, has appointed Alan Green to its European, Middle East, and Asia team based in London. He previously worked for ConocoPhillips, where he has spent his entire career, including the last 15 years working in the health, safety, and environmental field. Green most recently served as HSE manager responsible for stakeholder relations and for the development and implementation of a major program to install state-of-the-art environmental controls. He has a degree in chemical engineering from Teesside University.

Bredero Shaw FJS,

Ellon, Scotland, is the new trade name of the business unit grouping most of the field joint and custom coating application activities previously managed by Bredero Shaw, a division of ShawCor Ltd., Toronto. Bredero Shaw FJS now operates as a separate business unit of ShawCor. The Bredero Shaw division was not renamed, as reported incorrectly (OGJ, May 2, 2011).

Petris Technology Inc.,

Houston, has launched its new strategic consulting service, designed to help the global energy industry transform data management challenges, from technical to organizational issues, into growth opportunities. Petris created the service to help clients transition from collecting and organizing data assets to streamlining workflows and preserving valuable knowledge. The new service combines Petris’s domain knowledge in wellbore, drilling and production, and seismic data with its ability to build effective collaborations across clients’ broad bases of operations.

Knight Oil Tools,
Lafayette, La., has named Matthew Scott corporate account representative. He will be based in Knight Oil Tools’ Dallas/Fort Worth office and will be responsible for oil and gas customers in Dallas/Fort Worth, Tyler, Longview, and East Texas. He has more than 30 years of oil field sales experience. Scott has held various sales management positions at Reed Hycalog, and his most recent position was senior account representative for Halliburton. Scott is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the American Association of Drilling Engineers.

Knight Oil Tools is the largest privately held rental tool business in the oil and gas industry. The company includes Knight Well Services, Knight Fishing Services, and Knight Manufacturing.

TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Co.,

Houston, has appointed Rod Starr senior vice-president, Africa, Middle East, and Asia Pacific, based in Houston. Starr has been with TGS more than 10 years, most recently as general manager, Asia Pacific, based in Perth.

TGS-NOPEC provides global geoscience data products and services to the oil and gas industry.

Fugro Multi Client Services,
Houston, has named Tim Addington chief geophysicist. Addington will provide geophysical support for the Americas, including seismic data processing and quality control for Fugro Multi-Client Services in North and South America. Addington is a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Geophysical Society of Houston, and the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers. He has a BS in geology from the University of Nottingham and has completed master’s work in materials engineering at the Cranfield Institute of Technology.

Fugro Multi Client Services provides high-definition, nonexclusive 2D and 3D seismic data from most of the prolific oil and gas basins in the world. It is a part of Fugro, which provides advanced surveying, seismic, oceanographic, meteorological, and positioning services.

Bosque Disposal Systems LLC,

Dallas, sold certain assets to Waste Management of Pennsylvania Inc., a subsidiary of Waste Management Inc. The assets relate to treating and recycling of flowback and produced water from wells drilled in shale formations. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Bosque has developed a portable water treatment system for application in oil and gas extraction operations. Under the agreement, Waste Management will assume Bosque’s water treatment, recycling processes, and operations in the Marcellus shale region, including the states of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. In addition, the agreement included the purchase of various mobile water treatment units, frac tanks, and joint ownership of certain technology. Bosque Systems continues to operate in other markets, including the Barnett shale and Fayetteville shale, and has plans to expand in South Texas and other areas.

Waste Management, Houston, is a leading provider of comprehensive waste management services in North America.

Bosque provides targeted saltwater disposal well services to the leading gas well operators, total water management solutions related to flowback and produced water treatment and reuse, and support for general contracting and management services for saltwater disposal well drilling and construction.

Ship Operations Cooperative Program (SOCP),
Ellicott City, Md., has elected Glen M. Paine president. Paine is executive director of the Maritime Institute of Technology & Graduate Studies, Pacific Maritime Institute, and the Conference Center at the Maritime Institute.

SOCP is a nonprofit cooperative dedicated to addressing common maritime operational issues. With the support of the US Maritime Administration, SOCP brings industry, labor and government together to work on common challenges through identifying solutions that will improve vessel operations in the areas of safety, training, efficiency, and environmental stewardship. SOCP is a unified industry voice making recommendations to state, federal, and international regulatory organizations. The organization is open to all U.S. based vessel operations.
