Va. lawmakers earmark future offshore energy revenue

Approval by Virginia's senate and house of a bill allocating future offshore energy royalties and revenues to transportation and alternative energy research signals that the state is ready for environmentally responsible development off its coast, Gov. Robert F. McDonnell said."There is bipartisan consensus on this issue," the governor said on Feb. 22 after the Senate, by 21 to 19 votes, approved a proposal by Del. Chris Stolle (R-Virginia Beach) which passed the state's house of delegates on Feb. 8.
