New top drive offers less downtime

Here's the new 500t Model TD-500-HT top drive that promises less downtime combined with higher drilling performance and improved safety.

The unit features a new generation of variable frequency drive control system.

The firm says its newly developed link tilt mechanisms feature new standards in safety.

The control system will be individually customized by company specialists in accordance with specific rig requirements.

Reservoir modeling system update

Roxar RMS 2010 is the latest release of the reservoir modeling system RMS. Within the Roxar modeling suite, users can build models for any reservoir. It can also be used to estimate reserves, plan wells, and simulate past and future production. Features include:

• The new well correlation system that helps make well picking and tracking geology simpler, faster, and more adaptable.

• The enhanced structural modeling tool that comes with an improved workflow for well correlation, isochore generation, and horizon modeling.

• The improved 3D gridder.

• The property modeling tools that have also been further extended to include multipoint statistics and improved methods for combining seismic interpretations with the advanced modeling algorithms in RMS to achieve data-matched models.

New proppant for hot, high stress use

New PowerProp multicoat proppant is resin-coated sand designed to perform comparably to a lightweight ceramic.

When tested under industry standard methods, the proppant achieved superior conductivity and permeability results, the firm says. It demonstrated consistently better crush strength in the hot wet crush test and the beta conductivity to gas performance test, which predicts non-Darcy flow in higher, more turbulent flow conditions, the company notes. In field testing, it has performed at temperatures of more than 300o F. and at closing stresses above 10,000 psi.

PowerProp was field tested using a 40/70 grade product in a fracture treatment in the Haynesville shale in North Louisiana.
