Equitable reports progress with Berea gas play

Equitable Resources Inc., Pittsburgh, said it has had encouraging results from early drilling for gas in Lower Mississippian Berea sandstone mostly in Kentucky and plans to have spud 25-30 Berea wells in 2008.The company has drilled eight Berea wells this year, five of which are on line. The two most recent wells drilled have been flowing less than one month but are expected to average first-month rates of 1.5 MMcfd.
