Russia is blessed with a significant share of the world’s energy resources. It is among the top five producing countries worldwide for all three fossil fuels: natural gas, crude oil, and coal (see table). Russia holds the largest proved gas reserves of any country in the world and holds the seventh largest proved reserves of crude, ranking just behind the six top Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries oil producers.
