Luquette to head Chevron North America E&P

Gary P. Luquette has been promoted to president of Chevron North America Exploration & Production Co., effective Apr. 1. Luquette succeeds Raymond I. Wilcox, who will retire Mar. 31 to become president and chief executive officer of Chevron Phillips Chemical Co LLC.

Luquette currently serves as managing director of the European strategic business unit of Chevron International Exploration & Production Co. in Aberdeen. He joined Chevron in 1978 as a design and construction engineer in the E&P unit in Lafayette, La. In 1993 he worked as manager of enhanced oil recovery for P.T. Caltex Pacific Indonesia.

Wilcox joined Chevron as a design and construction engineer in 1968. He assumed his current position in January 2002.

Other moves

Richard K. Mitchell has been appointed vice-president, drilling and E&P services, for Devon Energy Corp.

Mitchell joined Devon in 2003 following the company’s merger with Ocean Energy Inc., for which he served as director, deepwater drilling and facilities.

Chesapeake Energy Corp. has appointed Steven C. Dixon as executive vice-president of operations and chief operating officer. The appointment follows the resignation of Pres. and Chief Operating Officer Tom L. Ward, a Chesapeake cofounder who will serve as a consultant to the company for 6 months.

Dixon has served as Chesapeake’s senior vice-president of production since 1995 and previously as vice-president of exploration.
