Metal filtration unit aids gearbox maintenance

Continuous oil rescue equipment (CORE), a new ferrous metal filtration product, helps with continuous gearbox maintenance.

Units will serve a preventive maintenance role in the service of gearboxes throughout power plant applications, as each unit is capable of filtering out metallic particles found in gearbox lubricants as small as 1 micron.

CORE units are capable of holding more than 2 lb of debris before cleaning is necessary, thereby helping to extend the run time of gearboxes and decrease the downtime associated with maintaining and repairing them.

Inside each compact, cast aluminum housing, which measures approximately 7 by 7 in., the durable unit features an assembly of five magnets, each surrounded by a set of steel flux plates. These plates create magnetic fields that strip ferrous metal contaminants out of the lubricant, while keeping the pressure flow at its maximum constant rate and preventing any debris from washing off back into the lubricant.

To enhance its versatility, the CORE unit, which weighs just less than 20 lb, has been designed to fit lube systems ranging from 1.25 in. to 2 in. without sacrificing any of its performance characteristics.

A new family of smart Daniel Series 3800 liquid ultrasonic meters uses digital intelligence to deliver diagnostics that help users detect and troubleshoot maintenance problems. Beginning with the Model 3804 liquid ultrasonic meter, the new smart family is designed for use in custody transfer, allocation measurement, and check metering operations on offshore platforms, crude and products pipelines, and marketing terminals. The Model 3804 ultrasonic meter promises to measure crude oil, distillate fuels, and petrochemicals to ±0.15% accuracy over a 10:1 flow range. The Series 3800 family offers 4-12 in. line sizes in 150 to 900 ANSI classes.
