New software helps improve process unit throughput

Petro-SIM Express, the latest addition to this firm’s software solutions, can be used to help improve unit throughput, monitoring, debottlenecking, capital expenditure evaluation, and process design for refining and petrochemical facilities.

The new software includes a set of tools for process simulation: more than 25 thermodynamic property packages, more than 1,000 components, and a suite of standard unit operations, logic models, and calculation tools. For easy setup, fast calculations, and quick data access, Petro-SIM Express features a graphical interface, built-in plots, and an interactive calculation engine.

It is compatible with the firm’s Petro-SIM flow sheet, and it can read files created in other process simulators. One feature available only in Petro-SIM and Petro-SIM Express is the refinery oil characterization package, which the firm says is proved in modeling more than 120 refineries worldwide. The package has the capability to manage in-house assay information, as well as access BP PLC’s assay data through a crude oil assay database.

The new Grippy line of clamps’ contoured, slick features helps prevent hangups downhole, the company says. In addition, clamps are specially engineered to eliminate compression-induced damage to ESP conductors and control line cables.

All Grippy cross-coupling cable protectors are manufactured to ISO 9001-2000 quality procedures. The cable protector assemblies are available for all standard tubing and casing sizes and coupling connections ranging from 2 7/8 in. through 7 in. They can also be configured for round and flat ESP cables, subsurface safety valves, chemical injection lines, and fiber optics.
