PERSONNEL MOVES AND PROMOTIONS: Falkland Oil & Gas appoints chief executive

Falkland Oil & Gas Ltd. (FOGL) has appointed 23-year oil and gas veteran Tim Bushell as chief executive.

Falkland Oil & Gas Ltd. (FOGL) has appointed 23-year oil and gas veteran Tim Bushell as chief executive.

Bushell joins FOGL from Paladin Resources PLC, where he served as managing director, Norway. He previously worked for Lasmo PLC as manager, North Sea assets and general manager of its South Atlantic business unit, which included the drilling campaign in the North Falklands basin in 1998.

The appointment follows founding Chairman John Armstrong’s retirement. He will remain a nonexecutive director to ensure continuity of contact with all stakeholders, particularly the Falkland Islands’ government, FOGL said.

Armstrong is succeeded by Richard Liddell, who was named nonexecutive chairman.

Other moves

Tag Oil Ltd., Calgary, has appointed Mark Webster as exploration manager.

Webster has 21 years of international geotechnical and management experience, including more than 10 years in New Zealand.

Prior to joining Tag Oil, Webster served as chief petroleum geologist for the Ministry of Economic Development in Wellington, NZ, where he managed the technical and work program compliance aspects of the New Zealand oil and gas industry.

Previously, Webster served as exploration manager for Santos Ltd. in Brisbane, Australia. He also served as chief geologist and exploration team leader with PetroCorp Exploration Ltd. and Fletcher Challenge Energy Ltd.

Small Explorers and Producers Association of Canada (SEPAC) has appointed Gary C. Leach as executive director.

Leach, with more than 25 years of Canadian petroleum experience, will oversee a diverse range of upstream petroleum industry activities, including industry operations, environment, safety, fiscal issues, and regulatory matters.

Prior to joining SEPAC, Leach served as energy sector development manager for Calgary Economic Development.
